Tech Tips For Thunder's Place

There are a lot of things on this board that are pretty obvious and some that are less obvious. Here are a few basic thoughts. If you have any hints or tips, please add them.

Viewing Threads Hopefully everyone is familiar with the New Posts link from the forum home page or your menu. This is the best way to see all the threads posted since the last visit. It can be annoying though because if you leave half way through reading the posts and come back later, you lose all the posts. The alternative is to use the Active Threads whcih brings back threads from the last 24 hours.

People often complain about not being able to find threads, its worth checking whether Default Thread Age Cut Off is set to show all threads in your settings.

If you want to see the best threads in a forum, click on the rating column header. Likewise you can sort by most replies or views. e.g. Penis Enlargement forum sorted by rating, replies, views.

Formatting Posts There are a few obvious ways to increase the readability of posts. Simple formatting like paragraphing well can be improved with the use of

• bold text [b]bold text[/b],
• italics [i]italics[/i]
• strike [s]strike[/s]
• coloring [color=red]coloring[/color]

As TT wrote, clicking “view new posts” below your username is the best way to stay up to date with new posts here.

If you wish to limit the content this link shows to only certain forums, a feature exists to accomplish this:

Click the “user cp” button at the top of this page, then “edit options.” Scroll down and find the forum filter. The instructions in the box are clear. Be sure to click yes in “Enable Forum Filtering?” above it to activate the filter.

How does the “Go to first unread post” feature work?

Sometimes I notice it only jumps down to the second or third post in a thread, when I’ve already read all two pages worth of posts.

Is there a way to refresh the action so it knows that you’ve read all of the posts? I tried clicking on the “Post #10” link on the last post, but it didn’t reset it.

Its new posts for the current visit.

If you mark a/all forum(s) read it shouldn’t show up as unread until someone posts again.

How do I put my “favorites” at the bottom of my posts?

I believe you have to go to your user cp up at the top of the page. Click on that and proceed to edit options. A few down it will mention options for favorites.
