Tried it this morning for the first time and I was blown away by how the heat is able to go through ALL the way! I used to soak my unit in warm water but NEVER have I had this feeling before. It is the most effective and convenient way to get the unit ready.

I eventually fell back to using a rice sock after tiring of using wimpy electric heating pads. Just be aware that the first heating of the day puts out the best (most moist) heat because the rice has absorbed moisture. Be careful not to burn the rice with repeated reheatings. Less moisture = easier to burn.
Burned rice not only smells bad, but it’ll ruin your sock.
Placing a small towel or even a folded up T-shirt on top of the sock as you hold it in place will help retain the heat.
IMO, the very best PE warmup is soaking in an extremely hot bath for 10-15 minutes.
Well, I don’t have a tub, and the dryness of the rice sock works best. I can do it while reading the papers in my rooms.
