My stinking, Mickey Mouse ISP cut my service at 9.28pm last night.

I was trying to play in the PartyPoker $1,000,000 Sunday tournament which started at 9.30pm! After 30 min I got through, by phone, to my ISP tech support in Paisley who said it was a “power supply” problem and it would be fixed in ten minutes. Eventually I got back on line at 10.30pm after missing the first hour of play. Blinded out a lot of chips and small stack at my table - what a fecking waste of a $215 entry!

Why the fuck do they do assume Sunday evening is OK to do maintainance without at least fecking giving notice of a loss of service. Why do I pay them £50 a month? Useless, incompetent bastards!!

I wonder how many people would wait the 10 years, I know 8-9 years and I’m out of here:)

I’d like to see how much people had gained after 10 years of PEing.

Why on earth are you paying £50 a month for an ISP?

I pay £19 per month and I get all I want and even at maximum monthly usage I’d only pay £57 a month

So it would seem (that’s just my let-out) than unless you are watching your screen 24/24 you ae paying over the odds.

I pay much less than that for a satellite hook up.

Doesn’t sound like it was maintenance if there was a power supply problem. Unless the power supply problem triggered the need for unplanned maintenance. :)

And £50/mo? You live in Scotland, yeah? In England for sure you’ll get net for around £20/mo these days. Yeesh, I know they say it’s “grim up north” but…

It’s a long story. Basically, it was a business package for a small network that was reasonably competitive a couple of years ago (Scottish Enterprise,that wonderful waste of taxpayers money, even payed me £300 to sign up for it). Now the contract time is over I think it’s time for a change.

Well…

I understand the need to rage at the machine. Clearly some people aren't being served…and they are understandably pissed off about it.

Perhaps others need to vent as well? How’s the phone company treating you? The electric company? Newspaper delivery? Milk service? (That’s just me showing my age. Most kids in America have no concept of what a milkman was).

And, most importantly, has interuption of any of these services adversely affected your gambling habits? Drug use? Let’s open the whole thing up.

And somebody over on that side of the pond help mbuc get a decent price on reliable web access, before he loses his shirt on these gambling sites or gets too far behind on downloading porn. Let’s help the guy out.

What pissed me off was I suspect they were doing something on a Sunday evening that they could have warned me about.

Although it costs $215 to enter directly, I had qualified for the $1000000 tourney by winning a satellite tournie which cost me $10. If I had known in advance that I was going to lose my internet connection I could have deregistered for that night’s tourney and reregistered for the following Sunday. In effect they cost me the $215 I had already won.

If TP is well enough organised to give advance warning of downtime I would expect the same from my ISP. Don’t worry, Mr. Happy, my business is going elsewhere. :)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sorry for your loss. And I totally relate (well, not to the gambling…) There is nothing like shoddy, ass-backwards service to really piss me off. We have a glut of it here.

The customer service 24 hour hotline, where no one knows anything, can’t answer your question, or if they do it’s always about what they can't do for you…

It’s appalling.
