At mods and ThunderSS: How much does this forum cost per month?

Just thinking bro, if everyone on the forum chipped in say $1 us or $2 us a month and you add that up with however many members there is on the forum do you think that would help with the costs. I am sure everyone would be able to chip in that amount each month it is hardily allot of cash and there is bound to be over a few hundred member or even every second month.

What do you think ? would it work ?

There is a subscription option available thru Paypal. We currently have three people that make a monthly donation thru the subscription option. Pretty easy to set up.

I personally plan on making a contribution at the end of the month when I get paid.

But I mean $1 a month or even every so often just to help out what would that work out as with every member chipping in ?

Well, on a normal weekday we have 600+ members log in. So it is safe to say that we have 600+ active members. We do have members that check in once or twice a month, some every day, some a couple of days a week. We don’t remove a person’s membership if they are not active.

So 600 x $1 = $600 a month or $600 every second month now how long would that last the forum in server costs.

Quite a while. This server is 150.00 per month. The new server will be roughly 50.00 a month for bandwidth/colo costs. Then a little change for domain and software licenses.

Yup, made my contribution, didnt hurt a bit. Kinda like when you go give blood at the blood bank. You know you should do it more often ya just dont want to get off your ass and do it, but you definately feel better when you’re done.

I myself have seen that “DONATE” symbol a thousand times and thought on occasion— “I should really do that”. This thread really made me do it. Thanks for the reminder. I run my own business, and know it costs money to do anything, I should have known better and been more forthcoming.

We will get a lifetime of pleasure from the information that we absorb, read and use here.

Capt, I wouldnt wait on that cheap bastard PirateSteve. I have been waiting for him to buy me a beer and he lives in the same town that I do. I did notice that my wife has been buying a lot of pineapple juice to bring to a sick friend. (He wonders to himself) When she said she had a sweet tooth I just didnt know it was for that.

Just how much power in the server do you have now, and how much are you looking to get in the new one?

We are just about maxing this machine out now. We want to get something that will be capable of running well now and will also have the capacity to handle future needs.
