Does measuring more often help?

I have been making measurable temporary (I hope to be permanent) gains the past few days. As when I first started PE nine months ago, I have been measuring several times a session, before, during, and after. I do this every session, even if the gains are only noticeable during that session, and I discover that later the numbers have fallen back to their pre-session level.

I found early on, and I still find that this is a great motivator for me. Obsessive? Yes. But it goads me on to a more intense work out.

Are there other members who have used this approach to PE

I am a measurerer too. I also weigh myself every morning. Also record my blood pressure every weight lifting day. Guess I just like to keep track of the old body.

I do pretty much the same as you do. I told my internist that I record all these bodily functions every day. I said, “I know it’s kind of obsessive.” She smiled at me and said, “I’d rather have you do it this way than like most people, who don’t keep track enough.”

BTW, taking your B.P. every weight lifting day is an excellent idea.

for me..

even though I’m not actively PE’ing right now (waiting a month till I move to college and have my own room) I did it for a while about a year ago. I found that measuring frequently only made me anxious to get gains, and they usually take a while to come. Soon I will be taking starting pics for a before and after effect. I don’t know if I will post them though.

I’m still holding fast and steady that I wont measure, PE wise, till the 6 month mark.

I weigh myself every day also, and make my self stay withing a 3-5 lbs radius (i.e. less eating if getting heavier).

My point in this post is that frequent measuring might be a useful device to motivate people to practice a more intense workout. It works for me.

I measure right after my workout to see what my temporary gain is and then I measure my morning wood the next day. For some reason my PE routine is one day on one day off so I basically measure once a day.

It does help in keeping track of my gains and every week or every other I’ll make an update to the size table.

Bone pressing often may tenderize your pubic area, thus yielding a great BPEL :D

I measure every morning, then go outside and try catch a glimpse of the grass growing. Just kidding.

Bone pressing is against my PE principles. The ruler hurts too much. My sensitive pubic area is not subject to “tenderizing.” I’ll stick to the tape measure, thank you. Lol. Lol.

I measure quite a bit and even have a callus where the edge of the ruler presses. I like to monitor what’s happening. If I’m not a certain amount longer after a workout I know it wasn’t a very good one and can adjust accordingly.

For example, though I can’t hang much now due to a screwed vein, I used sort of a chopped down Wench (actually the strap from my ball zinger) the other day to hang 5 lbs. with the head taking all the weight. I did 3 sets. My BPFSL didn’t budge. However, after one set (all I can get by with) hanging 10 lbs. with the Starter my BPFSL increases 1/8”. This is useful feedback.

I gauge my temp. gains pretty much the same way, but with a tape measure. I am back to long stretch sessions—four hours yesterday—to gain back the inch I lost. After that heavy four hour session, my flaccid stretch jumped up a full inch, BPEL, a quarter inch. This morning, my BPEL was still up a quarter inch. But by tonight it’s back to normal: 9.50”.

BTW, I tried your suggested way with the ruler, straight out. My bp flaccid stretch straight up, lying down, comes out the same with the tape measure.

Now that I have a fixed measurement for BPEL, flaccid stretch twelve o’clock, and lazy ass flaccid stretch, I can monitor my progress more objectively.

Good luck, horsehung. I don’t know how you manage to stretch for 4 hours, but more power to you. :)

I approach everything I do this way. I become like totally fixated on it and everything and everyone else disappears from my conscious mind. I do it while I’m writing—I can write from four to five hours without being aware of the passage of time. I do the same with PE. It drives my lady crazy at times, as you can well imagine.
