Would it be a good idea to use an electrical heating pad as a warm up aid?
Is there anyone out there who does this, and if so, can you recommend any?

I do… the rice sock is too much hassel for me.
Electric heating pad is the only thing I have used for years. I use it for the hot wrap and also wrap my vacuum cylinder with it when I pump. For your location, try google: heating pad UK. Here is one result. Scroll down the page to find one with a smaller size pad.

I second gprent. I’ve been using a heating pad since I started, and I also use it to wrap my pumping cylinder. I figure that it’s so easy that I can’t make any excuses to skip it, and that does me a lot of good.
