First lig pop... ummm yuck.

12

No nothing to see, and it was only freaky because it was so unexpected… I’m just a month into PE and this was light stretching outside of my normal routine. It was just the sound of a pop, like cracking your knuckles, and I could feel something give just a bit, almost as if my shaft pulled a millimeter out of my pelvis.

Eroset, If it comforts you, I about a month ago had my second or third lig pop afte doing PE for about 4 months and the same thing happend, this was after some intense stretching though, and I decided for some reason seating on the edge of my bed to compulsivily slowly stretch my dick straight out and then I felt the pop feeling. It kind of scared me, but I had been through this before and I knew if I chilled out on the PE for about 3-7 days everything would be ok again, its make you wonder what we are actually doing in PE, but the results I’ve seen keep me going. My dick has never been healthier in my life.

Make big gains man. :)

Ligament pop: Initially, the symptoms are pain, and fairly immediate swelling. Often patients will complain of hearing a loud “pop”, which is the sound of the actual ligament tearing. (This is referring to an ACL tear of the knee).

Tendons attach the muscle to bone. Ligaments are even tougher than tendons and attach bone to bone(or bone to non muscle based body parts such as the penis), providing the major support of all our joints. When we get hurt and pull a muscle, we also may rupture some of the fibers of tendons and ligaments at their weakest point. This is at their attachment to bone called the fibro-osseous junction.

This is a basic explanation as to my belief of what occurs, As to the reason of no pain; ligaments and the support structure would have no reason to have extensive nerve endings so most do not. Any how, I view it as a good thing, and have been experimenting with a one a day approach with straight up stretching. Peace

I gained roughly a cm in flaccid stretched length just from the first few weeks of my PEing back when I started, solely concentrating on heavy stretches and lig pops. I pop at least twice a day, if not more, and am back on track to gain an inch (I had a break there, read sig, heh). It was speculated before that the popping is just air escaping, like when you crack your knuckles, I think that’s fair enough… I just think that when you get the pop you’re pulling hard enough to get the ligs to do microtears. Although I also have had pops that resulted from minor stretching, I think those are ligs that are fully loosened up.

fresh out of the loony bin and back to PE! :D

Jm123,

Another explanation is that lig pops are like cracked knuckles. The sound is created by quickly pulling open the pubic symphysis joint and creating a spike of negative pressure. Gas dissolved in your tissue fluids quickly precipatates out, creating a popping sound.

I personally like this explanation better. I don’t think lig pops have much to do with gains. The pubic symphysis, where the suspensory lig attaches, is not a bone but a joint. The two halves of the pelvis come together there. The pubic symphysis itself is composed of fibrocartilage. It makes sense to me that the joint could pop just like your knuckles crack.

And just to clarify, so that others don’t get freaked out if it happens to them the first time, I experienced NO pain, and no swelling whatsoever. I feel that I probably could have done a regular full session that night, but chose not to, more because of my frame of mind more than any actual physical sensation.

To be sure, lig pops alone will not suffice in gains, when I originally dabbled in PE, I stretched until my ligs popped, and for me, it showed no gains whatsoever. You have to pull past the lig popping, it takes a lot more than a little pop to get the microtears that you need. When the ligs pop, for those who pop, that’s the point when your real stretching begins.

So when I stretch I should expect a pop?

Sounds freaky.

No. As others have said, some people never get them at all. From what I’ve read, the ones that do get them, it seems more likely to come from hanging than simple stretching. All in all, it’s not that freaky, I’m just overly squeamish.

Modesto,

I agree that in all probability some of the lig pops could be caused by a nitrogen release located within a joint, I think some that I have experienced may have been this. However I do believe the lig pops that I experience now are (after about 3 months of this technique) more then 99% unlikely to have been caused by this; as I could feel/hear or what ever you could call the sensation of my ligs actually moving or rearranging when I experience this pop. On the pop I would say what I more or less experience mow on my daily routine of doing this is more of an extreme stretching or loosening of my ligs. As even though I experience a jerk (pop) it continues for about half a second to a second after the pop. This is when I experience the lig movement. Any how I am not trying to offend anyone or give bad advice just trying to find some method to this madness of PE, and hopefully help others find a good procedure to this for reliability. Also I will say beyond a much increased flaccid hang and bpfsl I have not noticed any significant erect gains. So maybe this would be a good alternative to surgery for some guys to try for 6 months before getting cut. As I believe that is what I am now replicating. One last note is that I have found like many others that you have to position yourself in a nonstandard stretching position to get a lig pop. Ant questions just ask. Peace

Jm123,

Is it possible that the “movement” you feel is instead connected to the movement of your popped open joint? When you pop the pubic symphysis, the joint opens up. Parts of it may move in the direction of tension.

I’m not trying to be stubborn, but I really think that pulling a lig bundle off of it’s moorings is a big deal. It seems like the kind of thing that would hurt a lot and would take weeks to recover from.

It might I just don’t think it is. I do experience a slight ache in the groin connection area and also around where it connects to the penis. However there is another possibility that could occur that your questioning made me realize. Here is a quote from twatteaser from a previous thread.

“I have had this book for close to ten years. I originally bought it when I was contemplating a health kick many moons ago. Anyhow, I found that this book is pretty cool for martial artists. You have probably seen advertisements for this book in martial arts and fitness magazines. The author is the guy doing the full split between two chairs with two girls sitting on each leg. Dramatic claims like “Kicking Cold!” often appeared with this ad. However I did find that some of these Eastern European Sports techniques might apply to hanging and stretching. So I copied a very small section from the theory part of the book.

Excerpts from page 13 Chapter 1 Theory:

You can permanently elongate tendons and connective tissue sheaths, with minimal structural weakening by low-force long duration stretching with temperatures of tendons at more than 103 F. To increase the amount of permanent elongation, you maintain the stretch achieved while tendons and sheaths we’re worm while cooling down. This fits the description of a relaxed stretch done after the main part of your workout during the cool-down, with this qualifier: the stretch must be done at the range of motion at which muscle fibers exert less tension than the connective tissue.

The joint capsule is a connective tissue sleeve that completely surrounds the each mobile joint. Immobilization for a few weeks causes chemical changes in the collagen fibers of the joint capsule that will restrict your flexibility.

The ligaments holding your joints together are made primarily of collagen fibers. They have more elastic fibers, made up of the protein elastin, then do tendons. Stretching ligaments lead to loose-jointedness and can be effectively applied only with children. In adults, an age related increase in rigidity of collagen fibers makes any stretch at elongating ligaments hazardous. When children stretch ballistically or statically, their muscles do not contract as strongly as an adult’s and their ligaments can be stretched. If a ligament is stretched more than six percent of it’s normal length, it tears.””””””

I do believe that one or the other is occurring with me. The main reason is I have experienced many ankle injuries including repeatedly tearing ligaments. Yes this was painfully, however the pain is associated with moving the joint past the normal range of motion which results in injuries to the joints and muscles, this is usually the true cause of the pain and not the torn ligaments, as Since then (Basketball injuries) My ligaments have torn sometimes very easily from very minor twists which does have some minor pain and bruising but nothing to the extreme that I believe you are picturing. Peace

Got my first lig pop just a few minutes ago and freaked out too. Luckily I found this form immediately and am relieved haha
