Good information is hard to come by

I’ve been doing a little research since I started my routine last week, I just found this page about mens health:

WebMD - Better information. Better health.

Basically it says that PE gains are just temporary damage to the tissue that causes it to swell and could cause impotence…

——-
"Jelqers may believe that the technique works, but they are mistaken about how. You may hear that by pushing blood into the erectile tissue of the penis, you can expand the chambers — the corpora cavernosa — so they eventually hold more blood, resulting in bigger erections. You may also hear that jelqing exercises the smooth muscle of the penis, making it bigger and stronger.

"I think that’s all bogus," says Tom Lue, MD, professor of urology at the University of California, San Francisco. He says that only swelling, caused by bleeding under the skin, could explain the increases in penis size men like Thomas experience. This result would not be permanent, hence the need to follow a rigorous jelqing regimen indefinitely.

The idea that the smooth muscle of the penis can be exercised , like the biceps, is a myth. "Smooth muscle doesn’t respond that way," Lue says. In fact, stretching it can be harmful. For example, the bladder is smooth muscle. According to Lue, if you hold in urine so that the bladder expands too much, the tissue weakens.

What’s more, Lue says, all the stretching, pulling, and squeezing might cause scar tissue to form in the penis, which could hinder a man’s ability to get an erection. But Thomas maintains that apart from a little soreness, he hasn’t injured his penis by jelqing, and he says his erections last longer than they did before.

"Anatomically and physiologically this is just wishful thinking," urologist Ira Sharlip, president of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, writes in an email. "It’s all baloney until a real study with objective before and after measurements, verified by an independent source [since you can’t do a placebo comparison], proves that it works.""
——-

Now, I haven’t given up, and I’m still sticking to my routine for a few months because it doesn’t seem to have done you guys any harm. I am just interested to hear your opinions on what this ‘expert’ says.

I mean, since this jelqing obviously does work (long term effects aside) why have proper studies yet to be done? Why is 99% of the stuff on the internet paysites flogging "ancient secrets"?

Everyone seems to contradict eachother: Some sites say jelqing is good for general health but not for PE, some say it is very bad, while others claim it is a harmless hoax started by students 15 years ago.

I don’t mean to be harsh, I guess I’m just confused and looking for answers. (I’ve considered asking my doctor, but the potential for embarrassment is just too great) :)

Any links to independent medical sites documenting exactly how and why jelqing works along with potential side effects would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome aboard patkay (somehow I missed your first few posts, I apologise). Here is the deal, Doctors are idiots. They require empirical evidence, but not one of them have spent any time looking for it. They just keep saying PE does not work, without doing any valid research to show it does not. They also told me I would be dead by morning back in 1981, and surprise. I still can’t buy life insurance because doctors say I will die any time. They have said that for what, 23 years now? Imagine where I would be if I believed them? They also told me I had an ulcer for 3 years, when in fact it was an appendix that was only correctly diagnosed after it burst. So, believe what you want.

That said, we have a few doctors right here on this board, and they seem to think PE has worked for them. And I can assure you it has worked for me. I had the operation (at $3500) which the doctors say does work, and I lost an inch. Whoops. Perhaps the reason doctors say PE does not work is the same reason they say acupuncture or herbal medicines don’t work - there is no money in it for them (and yet both worked for me when “medicine” did not). For a few years I have been stretching, jelqing, and now hanging and have got back my lost inch plus added another. PE is a marathon race, not a sprint. Those who claim it does not work have tried for quick results and given up. I was doing daily PE for over a year before I saw my first real gain. It has taken me years to get my 2 inches, others have seen better results in much less time. Of course others have seen less results in more time too.

I started with jelqing, and I still do it about 30 minutes a day. It has always provided me with stronger erections, better flaccid hang, and added length too. Read the posts here. There are either a lot of guys telling lies (and posting pictures to back up these lies), or PE works. If you want a bigger dick, as far as I know, this is the only way to get it.

They are 100% correct PE doesn’t work, in fact thundersplace is just a myth an internet legend and nothing more! Now spread the word that PE is a scam.

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

Proper studies cost money. And what is in it for the medical folks and drug companies if they prove it does work? You can’t sell the exersizes, they are everywhere. Don’t need the drugs.

No money incentive, no study. Unless Squibb decides to buy Bib’s patent for a cool 100 million. That would be cool. :D

If you quoted it right, one of the doctor’s said, “I THINK”. In other words, it’s his OPINION. Doctor’s “sound” authoritative because they use medical terminology and jargon, but I look at it this way. They’re human. They went to school just like me and you. They’re “wisdom” is based on BOOKS (journals, etc.)! Books reflect our past and current knowledge. Think about this: books used to say that the sun revolved around the earth.

I also believe in the bell shaped curve. Which basically states that the majority of people fall in the average “C” level. A few are “B’s” and a handful are “A’s”. Most of those doctors are “C” average joe schmoes who crawled their way through medical school. Big fucking deal.

So, anyway, back to books and medical knowledge. Unless you believe that humans know everything and that medical knowledge is complete and final, then you can join us at what we are all doing here… being on the cutting edge of penis enhancement that hasn’t made it to the medical books yet.

And I agree, money, or the lack thereof, is a huge factor of this knowledge versus real world experiences and facts discrepency.

And for all of those idiot “C” doctors and “experts”, they all can suck on my extra .75 inches! hahahaha. lol!

OK, what is funny is that in a magazine that I respect a lot, they are not allowed to say anything concerning this subject. It is not like they haven’t addressed the topic. They continue to dance around the subject and pretend that PE doesn’t exist or work for that matter. Wake up guys, it is a form of body improvement.

The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

Dino9X7:

It’s a serious question. I have no doubt that if I jelq for 30 mins every day then in 6 months I will add an inch to my penis. What I want to make sure is that it won’t make me impotent 20 years down the line…

patkay,

You are safe. The world is ending in 19 years.

To be honest, yelking never really worked for me.
But it did not do any damage either.

There are good doctors and bad doctors, as with all professions.
The problem is to figure out which one is which.

Sad to say but I’m going to agree with you here. There seems to be some kind of mental block when it comes to male enhancement issues. Perhaps looking seriously at the issue would force many of them to address their own adequacy issues. I don’t know. The medical community does do miracles in medicine and surgery but this issue is proof that they are human and have blindspots just like everyone else.

Check it out guys, no need to have a big dick if you ain't gonna use it!!

Look, no offence guys, but forget all this:

If you don’t wanna believe in it, then don’t do it, but if you want to find out, then do it for a month, see a slight gain, then do it for another month to cement the gain, then wait for 2 months and see if it was swelling or tissue growth.

Surely thats the best way to find out. Happy xmas!

Time is valuable and so is a suitable penis, so use it wisely (your penis that is.)

The big issue is whether it is safe in the long haul. The doctors say out of their own mouth that their are no studies. Yet they have the balls to say it is unsafe. Pure speculation based on what they consider the nature of the tissue and what it will do.

On the issue of whether it works, they are on very shaky ground. They have to pronounce it safe first before they get some guys in a clinic to do PE for a couple years or they may be sued. That is my “guess”. :D

How much has Thunder’s charged you so far, patkay? Noone flogging anything here, at least not money-wise. :D

Girth Brooks: I know, Thunders is one of the 1% I mentioned that are not looking to rip me off. This forum is a great idea and I may even make a donation in the near future if my own financial situation improves :)

My point is that merely I don’t know enough about this subject to swear blindly by it. It’s not that I’m saying it does or doesn’t work - I can’t say for myself (yet). I would just be interested to see some real science behind it, it would give PE much more credibility than the current public stereotype of desperate nerds with small penises buying overpriced placebo bills from internet conmen!

Not that I’m saying you should really care about PEs credibility (If your happy with your results). Just that newcomers such as myself and skeptics alike would feel more at ease.

I think the results on thunders speak for themselves. As already mentioned, if there is no money to be made then the medical profession will put it down to a myth. I’m fairly new to PE, yet have already noticed everything down there looks healthier.yet some guys on here have clearly made solid and permanent gains.

Although I like reading up on this whole thing so as I know exactly what I’m doing.I find stuff like this article discouraging. To prove them wrong, I just stick to what I’m doing and let the end result speak for itself.

It’s funny how some doctor can say “it’s a myth.waste of time.temporary.does. Not. Work!” when they haven’t tried it themselves, or studied it. Blah.

Some people think this is a good thing since PE will remain “underground” and very few will do it. I personally don’t mind if it was credible and became something akin to bodybuilding, where everyone knows about it and a decent amount of people work at it. On the other hand, I think it’s really neat that there are some of us who are working really hard at something that will give us an advantage in dating/sex/etc. And it’s almost like a “secret society”.

In the end, I just want to make my dick big ;)
