Guests should join

There’s a good crowd here at this time (359), but almost half are guests. I realise some guests may be members reading in the main member forum and just haven’t logged in. But for the guests that aren’t members—-you should join. Thunder’s is a great community that doesn’t have pop ups and doesn’t send spam. There are many interesting forums here you can’t see unless you are a member. The search button only works for members and is very useful. After you join you can set your user id so as to not get emails to your computer, in case you don’t want anyone seeing it. I don’t recall, perhaps an active email address is needed when signing up? If so, just wait for the auto email response and then set your user id to prevent any more. Since I’m not sure about all this initial email stuff, maybe a mod will step in this thread and clarify this for me?

One problem is that you can’t use hot-mail addresses. I had to create a new yahoo account to sign up here, and I don’t ever check it.

In terms of email, when you register you receive an authentication email (you need to click the link) at the time you register to confirm your email address. You then receive a further email to say that you account has been moderated successfully (or not).

By default the email address you give is hidden from other members. The only time you’ll get mail from the board is if you subscribe to a thread or forum by email, if you allow other members to contact you via email using the email form (your email is still hidden), or if you dissappear after being made a moderator (in which case you will probabyl get an email from ThunderSS).

Other than that you won’t get email from here and the email address will never be sold or passed on in any way.
