Its a real hit to the ego. My grower wasn’t exactly that bad, but with many guys within 1” of their erect size as flaccids it didn’t feel big at all. Somewhat agree with you for sure, 5” is a very average lower end of small girth. I’ve seen tons of guys and always had the smallest girth. Average girth is around 4.6-4.8” base girth based on studies. I’m not saying 5” is big, but if the average is less than it you can’t call it small either. Also I’m not sure about others, but at 5.2” MEG and around 5.4” MEG, even 54mm condoms leave a bright red ring, and I need 56mm to prevent it. Standard condoms are 52-53mm, so if average girth was 5.5” or higher, then 90% of all condoms would be made to fit that girth (which would be 56mm or higher).
