Thank you Alice Hooper for your reply and thoughts on these issues. I agree that compulsive measuring is detrimental to our attitude and possibly our gains. A good point you bring up. I also think rest days can be taken too far. I like the way your think about PE. I have read a lot of your posts and you really inspire me to do better. I have gotten some of my thought process from you on this matter. Wasn’t that you that posted that we should not box ourselves in and to branch out and use our imagination with our PE? That was quite inspiring! I am impressed with this kind of thinking. I think it is a winners attitude. I think ALL of the great people that have come and gone before us have lived by this principle. Thanks for your posts Mr. Hooper!
wbassett, Yes, I myself and rethinking rest days as well. Now there is a big IF coming. If we don’t overdo our workout and make ourselves and our little friend sore. I embarked at the first of this month to do one day on and one day off. Well, in rethinking and reading posts lately and from my own experience of gains in my first two months with no rest days, I tend to lean to the side it is plenty of rest to just sleep overnight as long as the workouts are not to intense and hard on the system. I believe our gains will be faster and bigger like this. For instance, read some old ULI posts. Very few, if any days off and he worked his unit twice a day but not in excess. Please read Wadzillas post “Speaking To A Big Gainer Soon”. This guy does only jelqs and stretches, twice a day with no days off and WOW what gains. I myself took no days off my first two months and did only jelqs the first month and jelqs with ULI stretches during the second month, visualizing the whole time and at the very end of month #2 I did some Horse 440s. I gained 1/2” in girth. I also gained 3/8” length. Now maybe these are just newbie gains, and I am sure some of it is, but I am also quite confident that a big % of it is due to consistancy, not overdoing it and the basics. I got a bit over jealous with the Horse440s and I think that is when I hurt the vein on the left side of my unit and it has taken 2 weeks to get over that. So, I will not get out of hand like that again. I plan to jelq twice a day and edge 3-4 times a week, (I started edging since I hurt my dong) and some stretches. After I am completely healed I plan to add back in my ULI stretches and maybe down the road, some more Horse440s.
In recapping-Yes, I want to chime in with Alice Hooper and say that rest days can be taken too far. Not that they are bad, I think you may need them. It all depends on your workout. I do truley believe that if you stick to the basics and be very dogmatic about them, yet gentle to yourself, you will gain more and faster.
Just my 2 cents. I am learning like the rest of you. I don’t know all the answers, I am just figuring out what is best for me.
Do good things.
your friend,
