Legitimacy of Dr. Brian Richards Jelq Study

So honestly, has anyone ever found the actual journal the results were posted in? What are your guys thoughts on how accurate or even truthful the study is?

Huh! Do you have a link?

Legitimacy? Well after 1 minute of googling, I would say scam.

Like you, I was hoping a medical site would turn up, with official looking studies. Instead I got many sites selling PE related products, like this one:

penishealth.com/articles/jelqing_penis_enlargement_exercises_program.html ( I don’t want to give it an actualy hyperlink)

which says

Quote
In the late 1970’s, Dr. Brian Richards made a comprehensive scientific study of jelqing exercises. Dr. Richards was then a prominent Harley-street practitioner in London. Now semi-retired, he has written more than 25 books on topics related to sex….

Richards has always advocated a practical approach to sexual issues, backed up with thorough scientific study and personal experience.

Dr. Richards found that a jelqing penis enlargement exercises program increased the size of the penis of eighty-seven percent of the men he studied. This research was published in the British Journal of Sexual Medicine.

Having been at Thunder’s for many years now, I am very surprised I have never heard about him and his studies…

Ok, I am having a quick whack and hitting the sheets, but I will be very surprised to see if legitimate info turns up on this guy before my session at Thunder’s tomorrow… (It will be cool it does, though!)

Yep.

GM

I did a google on Dr Brian Richardson and came up with several the last being a doctor of that name in a hospital in Canada suffering from amnesia.

Don't be a lurker left out in the cold. :lurk: Join the happy band of donors!

Psst! The link is at the bottom of the page :bigwink:

Sounds like we got a conspiracy on our hands, people!

The System is again trying to thwart PE becoming mainstream, even stooping to fuck with the minds — through drugs or forced brain surgery, who knows? — of any doctor that doesn’t toe the line!

Should you add the word “alleged” to that intro?

I have a copy of his book THE PENIS (Valentine, 1977), which is actually a pretty good study.

In it, Richards outlines anatomy (male & female), physiology and “problems” with our sexual apparatus, and then discusses some “mythology” about sexual matters.

He then has quite a good discussion of “methods” of penis Enlargement, most of which you can find here. the “method” he endorses is the CHARTHAM METHOD, which involves: EXERCISE - the overall health of the body including KEGELS :: HOT COMPRESSES - sound like “warm up”/”warm down” work(?) :: MASSAGE - which is essentially jelqing :: PUMPING (which he calls the “developer”) - which we know to be another good source of size.

In all, the “method” he espouses is very much like that which we are using here, and at other PE sites. The difference is that he purports to have done clinical work to verify such exercising as effective.

He includes some data (from clinical work) which was supposedly submitted to the LANCET and the BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL, and the BRITISH JOURNAL OF SEXUAL MEDICINE (I have not looked for this data there).

There are several charts which purport to show gains in a group of volunteers ranging in age from early 20s to mid-60s (32 in the “control group and 32 in the study group). There are gains reported similar to those reported here by several members, so there may well be some verity in his work.

As the book is well out of print by now, and I am sure that the copyright is closed, it might not be a bad thing to post the charts on this thread. However, as I do not have scanning technology, I would have to send a copy of it to someone who can do so … T - what do you think, if only for academic curiosity?

There was a hearing (some kind of fraud case) held by the US Postal Service [https://www.usp s.com/judicial/ … eci/5-102d.htm] , which seems to have sustained some of Dr Richard’s claims about the Chartham method.

There are several other sites where the Chartham method is discussed, including this one here at Thunder’s [/usps_v_modern_age.html, which is essentially the same as the previous citation.

It seems that there is a certain legitimacy to the claims of the Chartham method, which seems to have great similarities to that which we are all engaged in at some level or another, with varying degrees of “success.”

All in all, Dr. Richards seems to have a excellent pedigree in the realm of sexuality and development, and so there may well be some legitimacy to the claims.

IMO - any possibility of aiding “success” in this work is worth exploring.

Here is a link which shows the details of the study I cited (from the book): https://www.sec ure-sales.org.u … ng/secure-shop/
files/images/2569.htm (long url) —

It does seem that our friend Richards has some issues [https://www.hig hbeam.com/doc/1 … 2-4733975.html] and may have lost his license (if that is what "struck off" means in England) - or have been suspended. Might look for the "Doctors in the Dock" series on the BBC sites - wonder if there is an American analog …

His book is still in print - I stand corrected from my earlier assertion - and can be ordered from his web site. It apparently is a 2nd edition, and somewhat expanded. Don’t know if I will order the new one - seems that the original is good enuff for me for now …

Uhh… I’m pretty sure that “Dr. Brian Richards” is the name of the physician in Ontario that is treating the poor person who has amnesia.

Great post, w2: I always love to hear about the “proto PE” stuff. My own introduction to PE was similar.

Yeah being struck off is losing your license. It’s a rarely used sanction from the GMC (doctors deciding whether doctors should be allowed to practise are often quite forgiving). From the page you link the reasons don’t seem to be medical and it doesn’t state whether he was actually struck off.

“Among these are the sex therapist Dr Brian Richards, who was accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill his Harley Street partner. In the series, he maintains that he was play- acting and still treats patients at his Kent and Cyprus clinics.”

:spin: They got to you too, I see…

Kidding. Thanks for the correction. Though I just re-read petitfaun’s mention of this, and I am still reading it the same way…
