Less is More

Less is More

I tend to take this approach to PE. I don’t feel that the 1,000-jelq sessions are for me. When I was a personal trainer (and not just armchair, I was putting up decent numbers myself), I found that the most common mistake was overtraining. Everyone seemed to think that more work always meant more gains. However, I made my best gains (which included a 300-lb seated military press) on very abbreviated routines.

I know that some guys, like DLD, have made great progress on a high-volume approach (just like some guys in the gym thrived on 20-30 sets per bodypart, spending hours at a time lifting), but I believe that most folks would do much better doing much less.

DLD has also been doing this for years, and he didn’t start out that way. I’ve found that doing PE every other day, for about 35 minutes, gives me the best results (that time includes hotwraps 5-10 min, jelqs 10 min, stretches 10-15 minutes).

I think people should approach PE with a minimal baseline and work up very gradually, cementing their gains as they go.

This is a good point and using me as the example is kind.

I agree with you on the muscle routine. I used to own a gym and I thrived on shorter workout. Over training was a huge mistake for many of the members who came to my gym. I would see people work out harder and harder to get little if no results at all.

The penis is in a different category than the gym in many ways. The most obvious is that it is not a muscle (although it does contain some thin muscle tissue). My approach to PE has been very much like the quote I pulled from your post. A gradual, steady increase in intensity and exercise choice. Although my workouts have become shorter in the recent months the intensity and aggressiveness are at a level much greater than earlier.

If I had to paint a picture of how my routine evolved it would have a definite pattern. I started out with short daily routines. As I became conditioned to the workout they progressively became longer while the intensity stayed the same. Then I started adding more intensity to the longer workouts. Over time I continued to add intensity and more aggressive exercise. As this happened my workouts became shorter. My total PE time today is about 1 hour a day, but the intensity and use of time is much greater than every before.

Yes, you’re right. I was merely linking the two based on the concept of breakdown/repair of tissues, recuperation, etc. Because PE does involve a degree of “trauma” to the cells, breaking them down, which then need to be repaired.

That is EXACTLY how my weight training odyssey went. Brief, beginner’s workouts(maybe 30 min average)….gradually getting longer (but not too long) (up to about 65-75 minutes)….then, as my ability to generate more intensity improved, my workout times gradually contracted again - though not quite to beginner’s levels (maybe 40-45 minutes), but far more intense.

I’m feeling the increased intensity in my routine, more quality then quantity. Reps are decreasing as intensity goes up. I’ve added visualization to the workout and I feel increased gains.

I think there is alot to be observed here. I wonder if there is some sort of correlation with gains and this inverted pyramid type workout history.

I have been in a number of debates here and elsewhere over this issue. I have found that high volume workouts do absolutely nothing for me. By “high volume,” I mean more than 15 min of jelqing and 5 min of stretching. I have taken a month off and just got back into it. After my first session my dick looked pretty fucking pumped. Mind you, I have been doing this for over a year and a half. It seems that if I PE any longer than a few weeks, I hit a plateau.

When I began this I think I was doing about 200 2 or 3 sec jelqs (10 min).

I gradually increased when I noted a slowdown in gains to 900 3 sec jelqs (45-55 min). I took time off and resumed with 400 five sec jelqs (35 min).

I reduced in the last two weeks to 200 5 sec jelqs (20 min). I appear to be gaining as fast on this shorter regimen as I was on the 35 and 45 min ones. I have similarly reduced my stretch time. One thing though, although the time is less, my techniques are more intense, every rep and second counts.

Check it out guys, no need to have a big dick if you ain't gonna use it!!

Me too. This was the main reason I started super-setting my jelq sessions.

I’m just about positive there is. And, as luvdadus observed, “I appear to be gaining as fast on this shorter regimen as I was on the 35 and 45 min ones. I have similarly reduced my stretch time. Intensity is *learned* by experience. Ever compare a rank beginner on the benchpress verses an experienced vet? The beginner will be benching….boom….boom….boom….then get buried, seemingly without warning. Whereas, an experienced lifter is capable of so much intensity, he’s literally screaming out his reps. You might think he’s going to fail on his 4th rep, but he gets it - then does 3 more! He’s beet-read, sweating, screaming, shaking, etc….but he grinds it out. That’s INTENSITY. He’s made “every rep count.” You won’t see any beginner training like that.

And, with such intensity, you NECESSARILY have briefer workouts.

I agree with Wadzilla in that gym training is like PE in many ways, however one thing to note is that they are both strikingly similar in that each and every individual reacts to stimuli in a very unique way. I’ve been PE’ing for 9 months and working out for over 2 years and I can say that I’ve made successfull gains both at the gym and in the bathroom. My gym routine is always bouncing around, but I have noticed lately that short and intense routines are much more fullfilling in the gains department. However, if you stick with this plan for too long, your gains will be curtailed. I believe this is true with PE. I know I’m still new at this thing, but experimentation is the only constant that should remain. Otherwise plateaus are just a matter of time.

Cheers!
