A number of us Mods are curious to know why some of you do not fill in the Location field in your applications to join this site, even in a general way like “Brazil,” if you are from there.
How come that is, can you tell us?

Yeah ive often wondered the same thing. If somebody reads my posts specifically, and see my location field, they can probably figure out where I work in 10 seconds. Identifying me would be much harder tho :)

Anonymity is definitely the reason. However, it makes it much easier to deal with newbie’s questions if they at least list the country.
One option would be to change the location field on the application to be a required field drop-down box with every country listed in it. Then after 50 posts or so the member can change it to whatever they want.
Either way, I think it’s good to list location and hopefully this thread will incite some new listings.

Back to the original topic here, as one of the spelling police (and a nasty one at that) it will help me if I know that English isn’t your first language. I tend to be nicer then :) .

How about a required country field and a separate, more detailed location/city field? (At one point I considered placing GPS coordinates, but that would just be me being a smart-ass.)
