The Best

A little while ago a member here brought up the subject of a best posts forum. There is a lot of information here and many topics are discussed repeatedly, a Best Posts Forum allows all members to quickly source quality information.

What do you think?

Now here’s the problem. To make a best post forum, you need to know which posts are best. Sounds simple but the way to make this happen is for us to read the posts and use the Rate This Thread selector which appears at the top and the bottom of each page.

"But there are 60 pages in the main members forum, I don't have time to read them all :( "

Luckily, both in the main members forum and the hangers forum all the posts have been read and rated at least once (and the pumpers have no excuse with a mere 5 pages). This means you can cut out the dross simply by clicking on the top of the rating column to order posts by rating, then you can read through the mere 2 1/2 pages of current 5 star threads and 6 pages of four star threads in the main members forum and much less in the hangers forum. The further you go the better, but getting though the current 5 and 4 star posts would be a good start.

"If they're already rated why do I need to bother?"

The opinion of one or two people on a thread is not enough. There are some awful threads currently rated high because they only have a couple of votes. Your experience is needed to make this our best posts forum, not the best posts of 1 or 2 guys. Please don’t do a correctional vote just allow the average to work itself out as more people vote.

"What about the other forums?"

Go for it. Feel free to rate threads in any forum. The Main Member forum and hangers forum are probably the most important though simply because of the number of posts.

"But I don't have much PE experience"

Good, we’re all here to learn. Rate the threads on how useful they are to you.

"I still don't have time"

Well this place is what we make it. In the end its up to you. Remember a best post forum may save you time by preventing the posting of a lot of duplicate threads. If you are really pressed for time take a few second to vote in this poll:

You know guys and gals, this place is what we make it. How about a little effort rating threads while you are letting the turkey (or leftovers) digest?

At least rate the threads that you have found helpful in your PE career.

ThunderSS how can we say no to you! You are the reason for this great place. Its the least we can do to thank you. Actually by rating threads it is helping to make it even a batter place. Because of ratings the info thats searched for will be available to the seeker.

If you are thinking of rating threads (not many people seem to be doing more than thinking of rating) please rate every thread. If you come across a thread and you don’t think much of it, rather than skipping to the next thread, rate it first (it takes a couple of seconds), then go to the next thread.

How about changing it so a thread gets rated only after at least, say, 5 members have rated it?
