Thunders Meeting May14 2005

Great to see you had a good time guys.

I have a question.

Thunder’s is my first and only experience at meeting people through the Internet. It has been a fantastic ride, can tell you that. I never imagine this could be not only possible but so “human”. When we meet here, what we see is our minds at work, what we really are inside. No prejudice is formed by an image of our faces or bodies. Is like perceiving our abstract existence through the computer. I’ve learn to like people here, to love even, and dislike too (not frequent but there have been cases).

The question:

How did you guys feel -from a human point of view- about meeting personally?

PS: I’m really envious I wasn’t there, sometime will happen I hope.

I did about 65 dates in 2002-era off the Internet, so I have no problem going out and meeting people. It doesn’t bother me at all. I don’t have to worry about it, I am a people person, a twisted people person though.;)

I have no worries really, plus it takes so long to ever plan anything with anyone that you get a feel for the person, as they do for me. So it really doesn’t feel that awkward for anyone involved.

I used to do a bunch of private messaging or emails with people and developed many friendships. I had people care to hang out and shoot the shit. Some even wanted me to see if a long trip was possible if I was ever in there neck of the woods. Financially, I can’t afford that, nor the time away from this asylum I have lived in for 30 years almost. If they are within 2 hours of me, that is no problem to drive or ride a train up. The Northeast is easy access all around.

It is not as scary as you think. I have interacted everyday almost with the people here, so it is all cool. In fact, I am going hang out for a couiple of hours with another member from here when he is in Philly this Monday.

Did you try one? They are quit addictive.

Good question Hog!

I am also a veteran of Internet dating so Im no stranger to meeting people in the flesh.
For those that have never done it, it might be a little nerve racking in the beggining (especially if its the opposite sex and there is some level of romantic expectation) but meeting Thunders friends was not like that. Meeting in person might also depend on how comfortable you are around people to begin with. People who are extroverted online might actually be introverted and quiet when meeting in person.

I initially thought would SSI live up to the expectations that people had of SSI. :) A few beers and everyone was relaxing and cracking jokes by the bar.
Dino, TT, Rita, Tps and Westla are all wonderful and classy people that anyone would be proud to associate themselves with.
I know that people conjure up all kinds of images and preconceptions about what someone is like in person.
Posting on the internet only gives us hints and other bits and pieces so that we form an approximation. When you actually meet you might filter some of that approximation through the physical appearance and thats normal human behavoir but since Im aware of all that pysche stuff, it does not impact me as much.

Having said that, I did not encounter any huge discrepancy between how I imagined my Thunders friends would be like in person as opposed to how they actually were when I met them. Although I must admit that TT was a kind of dark and complex character ;) so the man, the myth and the legend lives on! :)
I pick up all kinds of vibes from people when I meet them and sometimes Im quiet so that I can tune in to the people Im with. TT was the hardest person to read (He didnt allow me to make eye contact with him too much) :) I think it was a very surreal experiencece to meet with my Thunders friends (almost like a dream) and I look forward to doing it again.

Peace.

Yeah I think TPS really took the input from me and other hangers including himself and really made a killer hanger that will work the ligs and the tunica. I loved the bib it’s a great lig stretcher but I worked my ligs to the max and gains stopped. I was also getting serious bruising and had to stop.

When are we going to see pictures of TPS’s new invention in action? :jumpblue:
