Yahoo keeps .60 out of 20.00 which isn’t bad at all. About the same as Paypal.

You can see the limited specs on the server by clicking the link above. BUT that machine has probably been eliminated from consideration because it doesn’t seem to play well with Linux. That and I didn’t get a warm fuzzy when swapping emails with customer service at Vision. Obviously we want the best bang for the buck and I would like to be able to afford a machine that will take us through at least a year of growth without having to replace it.

We went around and around with the idea of some kind of “level” of contributor and decided it is best just the way it is. 5.00 to some of our members is a lot, they really have to push it to get than much together for a contribution, while others don’t have trouble with a 5.00 contribution. I think it is best left this way, a person gets Forum Contributor no matter what the size of the donation. It is really the idea of helping the place out that counts. And yes we have had donations from 1.00 all the way to 200.00 and they are both really appreciated.

You guys with comp parts or the ability to get quality comp parts at discounts, please continue to follow the progress of this thread, we may very well end up building a box (Thunder shudders) ourselves.

We may put up some kind of progress totalizer thingy to see where we stand. The only downside I see from this is guys setting on their wallets saying “Oh they are so close, they can make it without my help”.

Well I agree Thunder. I think my ideas would be nice in a perfect world but your reality check put’s things into focus.

I don’t know, if I saw you were a few dollars away from target I’d be pleased I could add that final few $ so you could finish it, but maybe you’re right.

As to the contributor levels, well I’m not rich and I suppose it is relative to how much that person can give really. I’m not rich, I’m a student, so I suppose it would make a difference.

I will instead just be proud in the knowledge that I’m helping out where it counts. Seeing as how we’ll get to know about the big developments it will be worthwhile.

Keep up the good work! Wish I was in the US so I could build you a top notch server. (I only know how to build though, don’t know much about setting up forums!).

Just caught your question about operating systems. Yes, we will continue to be, Windows free.

And point out those broken links and we will see about getting them fixed or removed. I don’t want this place to start looking all dimestore with broken links.

And if you did a little sniffing around and there were no broken links, just you wanting a good reason for knowing about apache, tell me that too. It will save me the trouble of looking for broken links that are not there.
