"your jelqers group"

Has anybody else received a message like the following quoted below?

“On November 24, *********** (name deleted) from your jelqers group sent you an invitation to join Grouply so you can see their profile, friends, and list of groups.”

The name I deleted is nobody I had met here on Thunders. I don’t know what “Grouply” is either.

Do you belong to any Yahoo or Google groups? Grouply is a controversial “service” that gathers the new posts and threads in your groups and somehow organizes them for you to read. The major problem seen my most people is that you have to give them your group ID and password. With that they can find the names of people in your group and send them Grouply spam asking them to join (like the one you received). Most group ownders are banning people when they find the member has joined Grouply.

I had forgotten all about some Yahoo groups I had joined years ago and hadn’t visited in recent memory. The jelqers group is about the only one that’s not defunct now. I should have Googled "Grouply" before submitting this post initially, but in any case you’ve certainly put it all together for me now. I plan to officially withdraw my membership from all of the Yahoo groups that are still active enough to allow me to do so. When you have Thunder’s, there’s no need for any others. Many thanks!
