I have been paying more attention to my dick in regards to training.

I like the idea of less weight for a longer period of time. It seems safer, and has proven recognized results. Some of the veterans are more into the heavy hanging, but I have only been doing this for a little over a year.

I started with a Penimaster, but found it very uncomfortable. I then got some of Monkey Bar’s ADS stuff. I can easily hang weights equivalent to the tension of the Penimaster, and do it for hours at a time with my Vac3.

I know I am no longer using my extender, but without a special ADS area to post, I consider myself more in with you extenders. I started out with 1# for four hours a day, and I have worked my way up 4oz a month until I am now at 2.5#’s. I also pump once or twice a day for 15 minutes at -5#’s. Lately I have been more concerned about days off. I have noticed a tendency to turtle after 2 days, and I feel a little fatigue at that point. Ideally I am thinking 2 on and one off, but there are things in life besides PE, so my latest dilemma is do I work out an extra day, or take an extra day off when my schedule is interrupted?

Also, 2.5#s is equal to the highest setting on my Penimaster, and it is about the most my Vac3 can handle, so any additional force will be in adding more time to the formula. Maybe building from 4 hours to 6 hours per day, and if that isn’t working maybe going from 2 on and 1 off to 3 on and one off if the present 2 on 1 off no longer brings on fatigue.

What makes this confusing is when it comes to traction the common belief is the more time the better, but my personal experience is that after a certain amount of time, my dick seems to get stubborn and start to retract. I have marks in my vacuum tube, and for now if I go more then 2 days, I am smaller in the tube, and my EG goes down. Does anyone else have similar reactions?

With traction more time is always better, as long as that time is safe and not causing more trauma than can be recovered from before your next workout. Mixing the pumping and light, long-duration vac hanging might be what is causing the issue. That is, you might be causing some turtling. But if we are talking purely light, long-duration type work, more time is the way to go. There are at least ten studies that examine penile traction therapy, and essentially all of them found a linear correlation between time worn and gains produced. As in 12 hours per day will produce, on average, three times faster gains than 4 hours per day. Of course there are practical issues, but, in a perfect scenario, more time will yield faster gains.

That's an easy fix.

Thanks for the diagnosis. I’ll just cut out the pumping for awhile and see what happens. Also, I added mostly girth for the last year, and it is my understanding that is more of a pumping thing, and unusual for traction. I didn’t think a little bit of pumping would make much difference, but it is easy enough not to do it. I have seen some warnings against doing both pumping and stretching, but I have seen other posts were people have been doing both, so the experiment goes on.

Do you know what would give the best results for flaccid gains; traction or pumping?

I do very light hanging on my days off (about 3 ounces of steel o-rings). This seems to keep me from turtling. Is avoiding turtling as important when doing traction? It seems like it is more of a concern with the heavy hangers.

For flaccid length I would keep the long time, low force approach going. Heavier stretching will cause more trauma (in direct proportion to the level of relative force), and it is trauma which causes turtling.

Rest days: if all you are doing is this light, long duration vac hanging, I wouldn’t take any rest days. You can if you want, but if you do 2 on, 1 off you will grow 33% slower and if you do 5 on, 2 off you will grow about 29% slower due to the linear correlation with time. At these low forces where true plastic deformation is not the desired result, however, rest days are probably not going to be counter productive, they are just going to subtract from your total time.

If you were going to add pumping back into your routine I would definitely say take rest days. But I would try just the vac hanging for a while and see what happens.

Turtling: first off, traction just means a constantly applied force, it applies to hanging too. That said, I think you are contrasting light, long stretching with short, heavy stretching. Turtling is going to be a much bigger concern in the latter because it will cause more trauma. The trauma causes tissues to contract and to heal tougher, this is why hangers must increase weight periodically while extenders can go much longer at a certain level of tension and still gain. As for the contracture (turtling), I don’t think it is as big a deal as many make it out to be, unless you are going several days between hangs. So, with traditional or (especially) hardcore hanging, an ADS may provide some small benefit, but it almost certainly would be unnecessary with a long, light approach like you are pursuing.

I have just been doing the light hanging without the pumping, and I have very little turtling, and improved eq. I am also dividing my 4 hours per day of 2.5#s into 3, 1 hour and twenty minutes, instead of the 2, 2 hours I was doing. In between I hang 3 to 12 ounces, depending on what I am doing. I nearly always wear a few o-rings behind the glans. They just feel good. Probably a lot like clit rings for women.

Without the pumping rest days don’t seem to be an issue anymore. There are occasions when I can’t PE, but I no longer am going to schedule days off. Just light hanging whenever I can.

At some point, I may just do pumping for a while without the light hanging, but for me, the two don’t seem to mix well. Plus, now I have a little more time everyday for other interests.

Time will tell when it comes to gains, but I like doing the PE, so even if my gains are minimal, I am still liking it.

Sounds like you’re getting it figured out. Enjoying it is the most important factor. If you hate doing it you will never be consistent - this was always my problem with manual exercises.
