Is my x4 a dud?

Is my x4 a dud?

I tried posting in the extender forum but it wouldn’t let me.

So I used to use this oldschool 10-15 year old ebay cheap extender (leluv brand) back in the day for a few weeks, stopped, and started again a couple weeks ago. I then bought an X4 and I am not impressed with what I have seen so far. However, I am not sure if this is just me not knowing the device.

The first issue, which is REALLY annoying, is the fact that the tubing that clicks into place when you’re strapped in does not hold at all. It will last for maybe 30-45 seconds and then spring up. This is very frustrating, and won’t allow me to gain tension.
The second issue, probably the biggest one, is that the tension rods don’t work properly. There’s clearly some alignment issue in the rods, specifically the left one, that just randomly gets stuck all the time. It takes an enormous amount of effort to twist it a couple of turns. I’m worried my hand will slip and I’ll jab my finger into my dick since I’m using so much force trying to turn these things.

Essentially, the thing is useless for me at this point in time. I’m pissed because I spent 30 bucks a decade ago and got something that never gave me any issues, yet when I spend 150 it’s not working at all.

Overall, I really do like the tension level on it. It took me using an x4 to understand what the tension numbers mean, since the one I had before seemed to have a tiny spring that just allowed it for easy strapping on. The tension level seemed maybe 600g or so on my old one. I’m just seeing if the issues with the tension and the strap is normal when you first start using it, or if you have to figure out some tricks?

The other thing that was really disappointing to me was that I don’t think I’m big enough to use the Velcro strap or comfort strap. With the noose, I have just the smallest extra rod on for now, and it’s a decent length for now. However, even without any extension rods, it seems that the comfort strap is too far down that it would be hitting my glans.

I’m about 6.1BPEL, so I don’t feel like I should be too small for the strap, so I think it’s just me being nervous with pulling too hard on my penis.

I personally have always used the strap on the X4 as I have found the noose to be more uncomfortable as well as for me more difficult, to impossible, to use as the tension increases.

My rods will not turn if they are not kept even as I am adjusting in or out. Much like the lug nuts when changing a tire on a car. If one rod will not adjust I then will adjust the opposite rod to match it, this evens the alignment of the system and takes uneven restrictive tension off of the threads. My goal is always to adjust them together evenly as possible at the same time.

I’m by no means an X4 advocate, I just have one and this has been my experience.

It sounds like you have already put time into another extender and it could just be that the X4 is not as user friendly as your previous one, which I agree would suck because of how expensive the X4 is.

I hope you are able to find some utility with the X4, I certainly appreciate your frustration.

Thanks for the feedback. I got the velcro figured out, I just needed to do more stretching before hand. Already climbing on the rods, and for the first time, getting some very light tension (got the first bar about half way down).

If my tension is that low, should I still take it off every hour? Seems kinda pointless when my PIs are looking good.

The only reason I remove it is because I need to get circulation to my gland. If your gland is not bothering you due to lack of circulation, you should be fine.

To deal with the noose coming free from the little clamp things, I’ve had success wrapping the area with sports tape or just sliding a small sock [toddler size] over everything to prevent it from starting to lift out of place. I find that it doesn’t take much force to keep the ends of the noose from springing out of the clamps.

As for the threads being difficult, I used candle wax to lubricate them whenever they get stiff or start to squeak. To keep production costs down, they have threads with loose tolerances; but the device still works.

You’re longer than me, and I can use the comfort strap. It’s a matter of trial and error to figure out exactly how to get the thing on. Maybe try experimenting with securing options without the base and bars, so you don’t have to fight the tension while learning.

Speaking of the X4, anybody on here know what kind of plastic they use?

I’d like to heat and remold the base to fit me better, but I don’t know if it’s a thermoplastic or not and I definitely don’t want to ruin it finding out.
