This is happen to me as well. It is because when you fasten the rubber belt, your are holding the “plastic surface piece” (the piece with 2 slits) at the ends, that create too much pressure, so it breaks exactly at the slits.

The solution is to hold the plastic surface piece, during the rubber fasten procedure, on the middle with one finger on top and another on bottom.

This has worked for me.

Im sure you can get those springs in every hardware store, or at least you will find something similar.
But, i don’t think you need more traction force. It is more a thing of keeping a routine and be constant with the device. The maximal traction force in the PM is more then enough…
