That is a lot to start with. I started really feeling it at 7.5 lbs. You have already reached a fatigue state if you have to go down in weight. That is, if it is because of soreness in the ligs and tunica, and not soreness from hanger attachment.

I did it in an adjustable executive office chair, putting my feet up on another chair in front . You need to hang straight out over the edge of the chair for a while. Then, slowly slide your butt down in the chair lowering the angle of hang. This will slowly stretch the skin on top so that after a while, you are hanging BTC with all the stress on the ligs. That is, after the skin stretches.

First, did you adjust the strap to take up as much slack as possible? Second, If you do not have a taller chair, you may have to hang with the weight plates horizontal to the floor. A lot of guys have made different setups to do this. Someone made a pvc pipe rack with a cap on the end. They stacked the weights on the pvc (through the hole) and attached the hook to the end of the pvc pipe.

This will take practice. You will get to where you can pull on the hanger with your hand and know when it is tight enough for the amount of weight you are hanging. Also, you can tighten a good bit, then apply the weights, then loosen until you feel it is right.
I often had the ‘texture of the hanger’ after hanging very heavy weight. That is because the heavy weight required the hanger to be that tight.

Experience of the boards is no substitute for you being careful. Always monitor the color of the head, temp, etc. Also, do not be in a big hurry. Learn what the hanger will do. Read the product guide again after you have hung for a while. You will understand it better. The easiest way to get an injury is moving up too fast in weight. Starting out, lower weights will do as much as heavy weights.
