Hang angle with respect to vertical axis

Hang angle with respect to vertical axis

BIB

I have logged 40 hours with the starter model in the last two months with no appreciable gains so far. I am currently hanging at 11 Lbs but had to reduce the weight after 10 minutes today and was really sore. May be it is the point where I may start to gains. The question is why the whole hanger assembly with the memebr viced in, makes an angle of approximately 30 degrees with the vertical axis of the body. For a BTC hang, the member head should pont straight down. I read in one of your posts that the head will rise a little but I wanna make sure that I am doing it right. The shaft from base to the rear of hanger is pulled straight down but the hanger longitudinal axis makes an angle of around 30 degrees with the body if seen from a side. It seems that the attachment point for hanger hook is generating a moment pushing the head up. I have tried a number of things like pulling the top of hanger a little forward towards head and pulling the bottom to the rear but no affaect. Your thoughts please.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds good.

Really good question. The angle of pull is determined by three things. First is the angle of the straps as they come off of the strap posts or bolts coming out of the sides of the hanger. I ship them out with the straps angleing down slightly because the first few hangs need to be straight out as the guy gets used to the hanger. It is easy to twist the strap attachment points a little and have the strap pointing straight out. You may have to loosen the hex nuts holding the strap on just a little. They can even swivel when the weight is applied if loose enough.

Second and most important is the position of the shaft in the shaft well in relation to the two straps attachment points. If the shaft is high in the well, the head will turn up. If the middle of the shaft is in the middle between the two attachment points of the strap, it will be straight. You may need to widen the bottom adjustments a little, to allow the shaft to seat lower in the shaft well.

Third is the angle of the shaft in the shaft well. If you have enough room, you may be able to angle the shaft down somewhat, higher in the back of the hanger, and lower in the front. This may tend to pull the head down.

Further, depending on your setup hanging BTC, you may be able to have the skids resting on the front edge of your chair helping to keep it straight.

Also, by having the head rise slightly, it gives a little more of a secure pull as opposed to straight. However, it may produce a little discomfort in the shaft at the back of the hanger.

Hope this helps. If not, please expand on the problem a little. Also, let me know if any of this works.

Thanks BIB for your thoughts. I tried all the three options. However, it seems that some kinda support has to be fixed in the chair to keep the hanger skids supported in a vertical direction. None of the other two options worked except for reducing the angle a little. I simulated the hang by attaching the hanger to a rod, anchored at a base and studied the mechanics of hanging. In my view, the attachment point for the weight straps is almost in the centre of hanger. If this point is moved up (toward the top a little, it may aid in swinging the head down by creating a moment arm. Just a thought. If this swinging of head up ( in the present position) does not create a hurdle in gain then I might as well live with it. If it is a hinderence in gains then this issue might be taken up on the board to get a feedback from guys. Thanks for your patience BIB.
