Hinged coupling for hanging

I was buying some cable cuffs at home depot and came across this item. I was wondering if anyone has used it for hanging. It is a heavy duty metal hinged pipe coupling that is used for stopping leaks in water pipes. It closes around the pipe and has two bolt holes for tightening. It came with a rubber ‘band aid’ for the leak. It is 4” long. They called it a pipe repair tool and it was only 1.99. I got the 1” model. I thought it would be good for a hanging apparatus. I will experiment with it and see if I can come up with something good.

Too heavy, too bulky and awkward, a pain in the ass to set up. Scrap this idea and back to tried and true methods!
