Is it ok to start with 5lbs

Is it ok to start with 5lbs?

Yes of course, you start with whatever you can safely handle. Many people suggest hanging lighter until your newbie hanging gains have dried up. 5lbs sounds perfect to me, Good Luck

Starting Stats: BPEL- 5 2/8" BG- 4 4/8" MSG - 4 4/8" - Jan 2006

Goals: Till Mrs. K, can't take no more. :rear:

Whatever feels comfortable and safe for you. Start slow. Five pounds is a reasonable starting weight, in my opinion, for most guys, unless they are using a position like BTC (between the cheeks) that is extremely stressful (especially with vice-style hangers like the Bib, where there’s a ton of skin stretch at that angle).

PROBLEM,
I am new to hanging - I have been using 10lbs to start with. I will go the first 5-10 minutes with this 10lbs weight resting on the floor - so I am not taking the entire weight of it - then I ease my self up to standing to take the full 10lbs for the last 10 mins.

Anyway - last night I was have a successful hang and I will often slowly move around to change the angle of stretch. I lifted my left leg to fast last night and felt a ‘snap’ inside at the base of my penis. I don’t think I tore a ligament right apart - but I do think I might have a partial tear. It did not hurt to bad at all. I decided not to worry about it.

This morning I awoke, hard as always, and found that the large vein that runs the lenght of my penis was hard at the bottom for about an inch. Not painful really - but startleing. A heat wrap, Motrin, and a few gentle jelqs later and it seems to be almost back to normal.

Who knows what happened to me? It feels a little sensitive but not bad. What should I do next?

Hope you use some jelquing at least for 2 o 3 months before hanging! Its ok to start with any weight you can handle, but, if you start with 10lbs, eventually your dick will get used to it, then you go to use 12 lbs, then 15 lbs, then 20 lbs, that if you want to see gains months ahead. You should start lighter, 5lb in 5 sessions of 15 minutes each, the general theory is that:

lighter weight/few sessions = minimun/no gais = no results
lighter weights/lots of sessions = normal/good gains (depends on your body)
medium weight/few sessions = dependes on your previous routine
Medium weight/ lots sessions = decent gains no matter your past sessions (lighter to medium routine = ok , heavy to medium routine = no gains)
Heavy weight/few session= developing resistance to weight/harder gains
Heavy weight/lots sessions = faster gains/reach plateou faster

If you start with 10lbs, you will train your penis to handle that kind of weight. And when i said faster gains, I mean you will get in 2 months with heavy weights, same gains that you would get in 4 months with light weights, BUT, your penis after 2 months will need more weigth!, and more, and more, reaching the point of “no gains at all even if i hang 30 lbs”!. See my point? :D

Hmm.yes. I see I am trying to hard to fast. I will back off to 5lb at once.

Did you ever hang OTS?
Under 9 lbs you will feel no stretch when hanging OTS. When you hang BTC, 9 lbs is too much to start with.
