Oh and I missed out the step of squeezing blood out of the head. I do that after I’ve pulled it forward after the first few turns. I’m not 100% sure but I think the technique is called pulse pushing. But just pulling it forward into a comfortable spot works wonders.
Also during the set I tighten it more even now and then to make sure it’s fully grasping the internals.
Close to the glans is fine so long as your head isn’t virtually the only thing holding it in place. Perhaps adjust your hanger settings. The teeth need to be close to being meshed together when fully tightened if you’re using a bib.
I’ll describe how it feels when I get it right (I think) and wrong. I’m using a chickenchoker so I can’t push out the blood after attaching the hanger, but I do prior to.
When I get it wrong I feel an immediate pressure building up in my glans. It very quickly becomes painful. Feeling like the head is going to explode. I have to remove it immediately because I feel something isn’t right. It seems like the hanger is grasping on the glans.
When I get it right, or what I think is right, my glans swells kind of moderately. It’s way bigger than normal for flaccid but it still feels a little bit spongy so there’s no problem there. It looks like the hanger is very close to the head, but not just behind it, like maybe 1-1,5cm or something like that. This is the furhest back I’ve been able to hang properly. I don’t feel any pain, I can feel occasional slight discomfort, but it’s VERY very weak discomfort.
However, my glans always gets cold and somehow blood flow is restricted, because I get major discoloration. The thing is, I only get discoloration in about 40% of the upper glans, so it’s not the hanger causing it. It’s the wrap somehow slipping and tightening to secure itself halfway up the glans. I’ve never been able to avoid this. However, I don’t feel any discomfort, except for cold or mild burning sensations in the head after about 10 minutes, and when I take it off the natural color returns very quickly. I do not experience any loss of sensation. I scrape my glans gently with my nail to see that there is no numbness.
Ofcourse I will try to improve my technique all the time but I think (hope?) it is safe to hang as I do, because I don’t really seem to be able to get past the discoloration.
