Word of advice, keep the string at the screw end and the other at the back end of the release button(so it dont slip of the clamp), its keeps tension even as possible, i.e. opposite sides. Also get a really tight squeeze on the thick padding with the clamp. Happy hanging.

I’ve tried this and never had much luck hanging anything over 5 pounds for any length of time. The problem is not so much pressure on the dorsal nerve, because if you put the clamp on so the screw is toward the floor it grips mostly onto the lateral sides of the shaft. But the problem is the narrow clamp just doesn’t grab enough surface area. Mostly all you get, as Piet mentioned above, is skin stretch, however I can appreciate the simplicity of it, clamp on, clamp off. Be patent. A wider, better clamp is coming that will be useful for both clamping and hanging and/or extending.
Big G cant this wider clamp be imitated by using two clamps or more if required?
I am interested to see this wider clamp and its benefits, but for now I just clocked up my second hour of approx 10 kilos (I’ve really got to weigh this box) with just one clamp, I am chuffed to beans, I can feel everything that needs to be pulled being pulled with little to no skin soreness, which gives me great confidence to continue, its early days yet but I’m looking forward to my hanging future.
Anyone who hasn’t tried this hanger yet is not happy with their current one or wants to get into hanging should really consider this method, I feel its easy to make but if anyone has questions let me know.

Tried it many times, it fucking sucks, pisses me off. I hate hanging… ugh.
2005 - BPEL 6.0"x MSEG 4.5" (BEG 4.75"/HEG 4.625")
2010 - BPEL 8.0"x MSEG 5.75" (BEG 6.5"/HEG 5.875")
Goal - BPEL 9.0"x MSEG 6.5" (BEG 6.5"/HEG 6.75")
I have been hanging like this for about 3 months but never got around to posting this technique. Here is what I do that is different.
1) Glue or duct tape 2 red cable clamps together.
2) Tied one cord/string with one end adjacent the the hinge/screw and the other end adjacent to the last ratchet/click. Both ends were tied using a slip/noose knot so I can easily remove and replace without untying.
3) Looped the string around a 5 pound dumbbell. Don’t need an s-hook.
4) To get 10 pounds, simply use that big yellow cable clamp to attach another dumbbell to the first dumbbell.
5) I use 2 10” ace bandages (two inch folded in half lengthwise), the sticky ones. They are not so tacky after some use but offer good grip on my flaccid and the inside of the clamp. I just wrapped below the head, one after the other. This gives me good padding and grip where I don’t have to clamp down as tight.
5) I found that using 2 clamps together allows me to get a good clamp over a wider area without choking off blood. I find that I can hang more than 10 minutes without getting a cold/black head. I have been able to hang 10 pounds like this with no problem of slippage at all. I mainly hang with 5 though.

That’s really good, I ‘m glad there is someone else in here who uses this type of hanger, I knew I couldn’t be the first who tried and are using it, your input is appreciated and beneficial I believe, I did suggest to Big G 2 clamps could be used, but you are the proof it does. Thanks.
The weight you use is your choice of course but the clamps I find can withstand quite a bit more.

Why dont you post a picture of how you hang with your clamp.
I have been using an improvised cable clamp hanger for some time now , with no problems . I wrap with gauze , then self adhesive ace bandage , and then a layer of mouse pad material , then apply the clamp . Works very well , and I have no problem with twenty minute sets this way .
Great, another user, well I’m happy now that it has proven to be useful to a few people now, I’d still recommend it to others who are either unhappy with their current hanger, haven’t started hanging yet or just cant afford to buy an expensive hanger.

I just constructed a swim cap hanger and have only used it for the last two days. The only complaint I have with it is difficult to take off. This is a great idea, as it would be easy on easy off. I would love to see pics of its construction so that I can do it right. I would love to incorporate this modified clamp hanger thing.

I’ll see what I can do, as mentioned I dont have a scanner. I will try and explain it in more detail though, and maybe some of the other users can provide the all important pics.
Try and follow the instructions I provided and see if you can make it, it really is quite easy.
With the xmas period I have things to do, so will get back to this thread in the next few days.

Hi are you able to post these pics, I think they would greatly help, would be appreciated if you could take the time out to help me and the other struggling to find a way to hang.
P.s. I have also done the two clamp thing and must say it is even better, in every way, a must do if already trying with one clamp.
