Strange or not, I was concerned that this part would eventually break over time since I got the Bib. However, I expected it just to outright break from continuous pressure, not to slowly erode.
The only explanation I have found so far has been what you’ve said, that the wingnut was turning the washer instead of ‘slipping.’ Still, I’m not completely convinced ..
Something I found a few weeks ago is probably related — I noticed that I couldn’t tighten my hanger nearly as well as I used to, even though it felt like I was tightening very tight (in that the wingnut was hard to tighten more). I inspected the screw, and found that there were segments on it that have been warped, preventing any wingnut or hexnut from going further. So maybe the washer got caught in a screw ridge somehow, warping the ridge and causing more of the same problem in the future?
I replaced the screw with a 2”, (Unfortunately, Home Depot didn’t have any 2.5”) but the damage was already done at that point anyway. BTW, Where can I find those 2.5” screws that the hanger comes with?
>You don’t have to do that. If you can send me pics of the erosion, I can send you two more halves. But we >need to examine the reason for the erosion also.
Great! I will do that.
I apologize for the photo quality. These were the best out of at least 60 different photos. You can’t see
the problem area because it’s either too bright or blurry or far away. I tried different lighting, backgrounds, angles, AND cameras to no avail. I will try again tomorrow if need be.

I suppose this is possible too, but there’s no real way of knowing this now. I lost the original washer (among my own) when I replaced the screw, and wouldn’t know which way it was on now, even if I *could* see a difference between sides of the washer.
