Poll: How much weight before you gained.

Hey Fellow Hangers,

Please respond by indicating the MAXIMUM weight you were using when you first started to gain consistently from hanging. I’m not talking about the average weight, but the maximum weight you consistently used during your routines.

So, for instance, if you hanged with 20# max every day, or nearly so, when you first started to gain, but would drop down to 12# over the course of your sets, then 20# should be your response.

Thanks! I’m hoping that this can help new hangers know what to expect.

It slowly went up I got up to about 25 pounds but got my best gains when I first started and was maybe up to 10-15 pounds. That why I think long breaks might be good with hanging.

Me too. Although, I am now at 25-30 pounds. The longer you are at it, the more weight is required to make gains. I believe that Bib was up to 40 pounds+ when he stopped.

I have experienced very slow gains from hanging but I am very patient and dedicated. Almost all of my hanging has been in the 10-15 lb range (20 minutes max - 10 minutes min). I am currently trying to increase my sets from 10, 11.25, 12.5, and 13.75 to 11.25, 12.5, 13.75, and 15 without experiencing retraction and without losing morning wood. I hang/pump 3-4 days a week. My routine is new in that I hang 2 weeks then pump 2 weeks. I wear an ADS around 2-3 hrs at a time, 6 hrs total per day.

I began hanging around August last year, but may need to wait longer before I answer your poll. I began at 5 pounds and quickly moved up to 8.8 pounds. I’ve thought about increasing weight, but decided to first stay with that and increase time per week instead. I haven’t increased time per week much so far, and I’ve had a couple of times I switched back to just fowfers. I began back hanging but my gains seemed stalled to me, so I’m on a 6 week deconditioning PE break.

In summary, I haven’t tested weight maximums yet, and I’m unsure of what gains I’ve received from hanging so far. I gained 1/4” in erect length and also gained in flaccid in 2004, but now I can’t clearly recall when I got them. My record keeping sucks as far as detail is concerned, and then it all begins to blurr together.

After my deconditioning break, I’m going to only hang in 2005 and will move up in weight. I’ll be in a better position to answer your survey then. I could possibly answer your survey as 8.8 pounds because I believe I got a bit of gain then, but it wasn’t consistent gain because I stalled for sure. I now believe for almost certain that I need heavier weight for consistent gain.

First started gaining slowly at 4.2 pounds, made my best gains at 6.75 pounds.

That’s amazing! Did you feel fatigue at this weight? What was your EG at the time you started gaining?

I felt some fatigue early on (when hanging SD, where I never got any gains from:) ), but I just forgot about aiming for fatigue and just concentrated on time under tension.
EG was around 5”

That’s great. How much time are we talking about?

MM, I did have some length gains 1/8 - 1/4”, but I am not sure if it was from hanging so I voted “Never gained”. I’ve been hanging for 3 months now and am at 12-13lb max.


Stats (bp) 2004/08/19 8.0 X 5.5" 2005/08/29 8.2 X 5.8" Goal - I am good for now
