Thinking of going back to hanging

Thinking of going back to hanging

I’m currently a dry/wet jelq routine and am not seeing any gains. I’ve been stuck at 6.75” NBPEL for a while now and am really getting frustrated that I’m only 0.25” away from reaching my first goal. I used to hang but don’t recall seeing any gains with it. Would the amount of time I have to dedicate to hanging make my returning to the practice worth while? I would only have one hour per day, five days per week to dedicate to hanging, and that includes rest time taken in between hanging sessions. Any thoughts?

Also, anybody ever heard of increasing girth through hanging. I know this is counter intuitive, but I remember being a little thicker while hanging. I haven’t kept records during my PE experience, so, everything I can say about my progress is subject to the integrity of my memory. I started at 6.00” NBPEL and have gained 0.75” since I began.

Yea man, I am in the same boat.

Been stuck at 6.75 nbp for like…eight months.

I have a feeling that my lack of growth is due more to not being consistent, taking too many breaks, and jumping around from routine to routine than anything else. Have you been consistent and dedicated? It can make all the difference.

On the subject of hanging for girth: it has been noted several times on this forum that hanging, in some cases, can increase girth and length.

I hung for only about six weeks (starting about three months ago) and, while i got no permanent gains I did notice a post workout gain in length AND girth. Probably very body / routine dependent though. Too many variables to hypothesize why / how this works.

Good luck breaking 7! I am going back to hanging just as soon as my life calms down a bit.

Starting (10 / 2006): 5.8~BPEL, 5~BG ----> Current: 7.6 BPEL, 5.6 BG ----> Goal: Pringles Can

Bro, I think our PE situations are mirror images of each other. I have taken a few breaks here and there and have most definately jumped from routine to routine after not seeing the results I want after far to short of time.

As to why I haven’t seen the gains I want … There is a major similarity in the mind set of PE vs. bodybuilding/powerlifting. You never know if the key is consistency or if your efforts are in vain and you need to explore another avenue to find the gains you seek. Combine this uncertainty with a lack of patience and you get a complete lack of consistency, which never helped anyone.

I guess I, too, will be returning to hanging. What do you think of the time issue that I mentioned in the original post? Is one hour, five days per week not enough?

If thats all the time you have then do it. But I know bib suggest a least 10 hours a week with minimal breaks. I f you doing just an hour a day you might wanna pound out some manuals to keep deforming tissues.

Jelqs? If so, how many? 50?

Hello androgrowing,

You might want to consider an all day stretch device, or Monty’s PE weights. This is something you could wear during the day, to help keep your ligs stretched out. That’s the best substitute I can think of for your circumstances.

I say go for it, even if you can only hang 5 hours a week. I’m currently hanging about 9 hours a week. I hang 1 hour per day on the weekdays, and then do two (1) hour sessions on Saturday and Sunday to get me up to 9. That’s the best I can do. I’m in my third week. My plans are to hang for one year. My goal is to hit 7.25 BPEL by October of ‘09. I have weights from Monty that I plan on doing ADS starting in my 5th week for 4 hours a day in the morning at my work.

Good luck.

50 jelqs won’t do anything really except get circulation. Like penismagee said you might just need an ads cause if you don’t have more time than that then other than good manual routine hanging probably won’t benefit unless you get into some serious weight. Might wanna read up on other peoples routines and see what worked for them.

Well, I just started back, today. In fact, I’m hanging as I type this. Since it’s been a little while since I did any hanging, I decided to start (again) with five pounds. Considering that I had gotten up to eight pounds when I did this last, five doesn’t sound or feel like that much. Should I return to the eight or stick with the five for a while?

As I sit here, hanging, a thought occured to me. Would it be a mistake to let this weight hang attached for the entire hour without a break? It’s only five pounds. It’s been on for forty minutes and there’s no discoloration or loss of feeling/sensation. If it were heavier, I wouldn’t consider it. Still, how much pull does an ADS exert? If it’s five pounds or greater, then what’s the difference? Anybody?

I don’t know if its a mistake. I currently use a vacuum style hanger. I use 3 lbs hanging on upward angle. At the most I hung for two hours without using tape on the glans and had a blister. I currently hang for at least 1 hour straight with no problems thus far.

What type of hangers do you use Andgrowing, and at which angle.

I think 5 lbs is good as a start. I have been hanging for two months now, and I still on 5 lbs. And I think starting after a break is like starting for the first time, you don’t want to rush things up.

I don’t know about going for entire hour without a break. I can’t do that, and I know that this is not recommended. But if you feel comfortable, I can’t see how this can cause any harm.

ADS can’t give the same amount of pull as hanging, not even a 5 lbs. And hanging allows you to increase the amount of pull as you advanced.
