I put it on then draw up 8hg vacuum on the gauge, give a strong tug with my right hand, check for leaks, then apply the weight and the needle holds steady. I read here on Thunders by others that the vac usually increases when the weight is applied but that has never been my case with this hanger. It maybe due to the fact that I use wrapping and a sleeve over that when going into the hanger so a lot of room is already taken up in the cylinder and not as much vacuum is required to hold the weight, hope that makes sense.
I also have a round piece of memory foam toward the end of the cylinder as a soft bumper so that takes up a little more room. If you were to use this hanger as advertised, no wrapping, no foam etc, I’m sure it would require more vacuum than I’m using to hold the same amount of weight, just my theory though.
