Bathmate and Androbath mods?

Was looking at this post on the “Finding Xeno” thread. I am contemplating and planning and building my tools for my next IPR cycle, which won’t be until this fall. But in looking at this mod for the Androbath pump, I’m wanting to do something like this to my BathMate X40. Does anyone know if it will work, or how similar the valves are on the two different pumps? Also curious if I can put a gauge on the hose somewhere to monitor vacuum level.

Here’s the mod I’m talking about. It is a bit like the “Extreme” model BathMates, but won’t cost me another $200.

So this would be for a higher hg then with the regular hand pump you’d get with the bathmate?

The “regular” Bathmate doesn’t come with a hand pump, only the “extreme” models. But yeah, it will, in theory, and I just have the standard X40, so I’m looking for a cheap and effective way to make it pull more vacuum, maybe even adding a gauge so I can track my HGs.

I wonder if you could swap tops on the two. I thought about that when I had the Hercules then the tip broke and I never heard back from them so I went with the “extreme” x30.

The Androbath valve is a ~1mm diameter, ~5mm long plastic lever. Press it through the slot that it resides in to the other end of the slot and pressure is released. I simply cut the lever flush with the external surface of the Androbath so that the silicone tube that I draw water through couldn’t inadvertently move the lever in the slot. Works great; dramatically increases the vacuum range of the device. I simply slip a finger under the boot to release pressure.

When I first started pumping I used a penomet and a wine bottle sealer. This method worked well and allowed me to pump at higher hg but I would actually highly recommend going to an air pump with a gauge if funds allow. I have had good success with pumping and most came after I ditched the water pump.
