Broken LAP Dist Pump

You really don’t have to be paranoid about it. It’s a pump. Do you have a lock ring to fix it?

Just repeat this mantra in your head as you go into the store: “It's not a penis pump, it's not a penis pump, it's not a penis pump…”.

This also happened to me a week or so ago :( , but my disc is broken so i need a new one. I’ve checked my local hardware stores but no luck. Does anyone know of an online source for this part or if someone has it locally could they send me one or two? (i’d pay of course).

I just thought of another place to try. Look for an appliance/electronics parts store in your area. Yes, use the Yellow Pages. Those clips are used a lot in those products.

Thanks gprent, i’ll give those a shot. Wish i could find one online though, it’d be a heck of alot easier than going place to place asking for the part. And i was just seeing good pumping results too. :(

Thing is though, that is a 25 cent part and online they would charge you 5 dollars shipping.

Look for an industrial fastener supply company in your area, they usually carry all kinds of off the wall hardware. Or they will have an idea of where you can find the part if they don’t have it.

I have a repair suggestion that just might work.

First pull the plunger out and grip the piston shaft near the end of the vacuum cylinder with a pair of vice grips to hold the shaft in the extended position. Place a small regular washer over the grooved end of the shaft. Using bare thin gauge wire, wrap the wire into the lock groove in the end of the shaft and twist the wire to hold it tight. Release the vice grips and pray that it holds.

Is that description clear enough to make any sense? If you find a washer that fits the shaft closely and a wire that fits nicely into the groove, I think it will work.

Well guys I got my problem solved by King_G. (Thanks KG!) The magical fix? Superglue. :)

I was thinking of using Gprent’s “wire tip” to strengthen the bond even more, but when I tried the pump with just the Superglue last night it seemed pretty strong.

I’m very happy now, I pumped yesterday for the first time in two weeks. Thanks King_G, Gprent, Plustwo, Thunder and everyone else for your help. :)

I have never had much luck with Superglue myself and am skeptical it will hold for long. If it does let go and still want to explore the glue route, you could try a good epoxy.

In the mean time, enjoy the pumping!

Look what I just found. Problem is you might have to buy a thousand, I don’t know, but at least I finally found the damn things. In Europe they call them push-on fasteners:
