Broken meter

The pointer in my gouge meter somehow got a little loose , and now it´s pretty much useless since it runs all over the place. Should I open the meter and try to repair it? any suggestions? Thank you for your time.

If it’s useless, I would give the repair shot a try. You can’t make it any worse than useless. With any luck, you should be able to pop off the clear lens cover. I was just able to feel around the edge of mine with a fingernail and found a spot I could get under.
