Erection level, HG level, and expansion

I was wondering what my fellow pumpers thought of the relationship between erection level, hg level, and expansion. For example, if I go into the tube with a semi, I really don’t start to feel any kind of pressure on my unit until 4-5 hg. If I go in with an erection, I feel pressure from the get go. Haven’t measured expansion afterwards, but what do you guys think…if I go in with a semi will I only achieve expansion at higher levels (i.e. 4-6 hg)? Keep in mind I’m water pumping.

When you go in semi, you need more hg to expand to your erect size plus dome. When you go in erect, you have already expanded to your erect size so all you need is a little hg to expand some more. I have ED so I usually go in flaccid and slowly pump up to 10 hg and then watch it grow to erect size at which time the hg has gone down to 3 hg and I have to pump again to 5 hg to get it to expand above erect size.

I would not recommend 10 inHg; do that at your own risk. You can go into the cylinder flaccid, use a lower vacuum (2-3 in Hg), and still get expansion. Watch the gauge and as the vacuum level drops due to expansion, bring it back up to your target level. Lather, rinse, repeat for the duration of your session.

Note that I recommend a 30 second ‘break’ every five minutes; drop the vacuum level down to near-zero for 30 seconds, hold for 30 seconds, then pump back up to your target vacuum level again.

As to erection level, vacuum level and expansion, I’d suggest that you try different approaches and take notes. See what works for you, and report back!

I didn’t realize that the drop in pressure meant I was getting expansion. I’ll be sure to report back to you guys, I think I might have a routine that will work. Stay tuned.

I wanted to ask the experienced members, on a thread somewhat related to the topic of expansion while pumping. I am uncut, and I pump close to 4-6 HG (progressively of course). Also, a preemptive apology to UM1991 for stealing this thread (well, I am not really stealing it, just asking a relevant question :) )

I notice that when I pump, my unit doesn’t expand horizontally, ie: the “width” of the penis when looking at it from the top remains the same. The depth (the distance from the top part of the penis to the bottom) however, does increase. The length (from the tip of the glans to the base where it meets the pubic bone) remains just about the same.

My question is: does most of the negative (relative) pressure contribute to expanding the skin or the tunica? Since I cant actually touch my penis while inside the tube, I’d be happy if some pumping gurus may enlighten me.

The vacuum forces blood into the corpus chambers like an erection and lymph fluid into the surrounding cells. I don’t think there is any expansion of the tunica caused directly from the vacuum, although there is a very slight expansion due to the increased tension caused by the expansion as mentioned above. A very simplistic explanation. Perhaps those with a background in anatomy of the penis can get into the details.

My shaft expands all the way around, including horizontally. Perhaps you are packed against the side if the tube and should consider an elongated tube such as the LAP Wide Mouth.

I just recently started pumping and I think I may be going overboard. I’ve been going in flaccid and pumping up to 10-12Hg for 5 min intervals around 3 at a time. I’m not sure if my pump is not reading correctly and it is a good amount of pressure but I haven’t gotten any discoloration that I’ve noticed. The only problem I’ve been having is I seem to be getting a bit light headed and dizzy after my sessions for a good while. Thinking about stopping all together, is this really bad?

Days, this seems like too much vac. Go back and read the Vacuum Pumping 101 thread. The recommended vacuum level is generally 3 to 5 in Hg, and those new at this should stay closer to the low end of that range. Take it easy, good luck, and enjoy the results.

I always go into the tube with at least 90% erection simply because it feels better and, like you said, doesn’t require as much vacuum.

Dude, way too much to start. At that high pressure, don’t you get lots of lymph fluid buildup and the doughnut effect?

I found that high to be counterproductive. Like Dash-5 said, read Pumper’s 101 and more like 3 or so is a good place to start. Pumping that high I found the lymph buildup too much, then I wound up having to take long periods off for my unit to get back to normal. I prefer going in erect or semi-erect. Start at about 3, keep an eye on the gauge. Always maintain the 3 or so Hg for the whole session. Porn helps for stimulation, so you aren’t entirely depending upon the vacuum for the pump. ;)

Thanks for the reply, I ended up tracking down my dizzy problem to amphetamines I was taking. Gunna cut down the pressure and try to do longer sessions. :)
