how common is injuries

I have a friend who just started pumping. He was experiencing problems before and now he says it is getting worse. He does not think it is pumping related. Has anyone experienced some penile pain through out the day that is consistent each day or has this ever caused any prostate problems. He is currently doing 6 mm Hg of pressure for 15 mins a day. He is only been at it for like a month.

Without knowing what his problems are other than penile pain, I’d bet that they are not related to his pumping. His sounds pretty sensible to me and he had this prior to picking up a pump, you say.

Pumping does not interfere with prostatic function. Prostatitis is very often bacterial in origin, imo, then remains a continuing bacterial problem; or, prostititis can come on as a result of the normal enlargement that sometimes occurs with aging with the result of a condition called Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH). There are more types but no need to go into that.

Tell your friend that “referred” pain is common with prostatitis and that he needs to get his prostate checked by a urologist, if only just to eliminate that as the cause for his pain. While he’s there, they can determine if something else is going on.

Thanks for the reply. He is seeing a urologist and has had a rectal exam, but they did not say anything about it. He is now waiting on blood work. I am just a little affriad for him, he doesnt want to stop pumping for sure. I am glad to hear that you dont think it is related. If anyone else has had such pain please speak up. Thanks.

There are a couple of posts/threads in the Mens’ Sexual Health Forum about prostatitis, Larry. Have a look. More will follow when we have time to organize them.

6mm hg of pressure is a fraction of 1” hg. I doubt he could achieve a vacuum at that pressure. I think he probably means that he is pumping at 6cm hg., which is approx. 2.35 in. hg. I pump at 10cm which is approx. 4 in. hg.

Sorry I dont actively pump myself so my gaugeing is a little off. I have read enough posts here that I believe it is best to keep the pressure under or around 5. 5 what, I am not to sure. I guess it is 6 in. hg. This is bad, right?

larry;

The safe starting range is 3 - 5 HG. This doesn’t mean that 6 HG will blow you apart or cause damage. We’re all different physiologically. 6 HG might feel awful to certain guys, but fine to others.

I’ve been doing this for years. Some, even unseasoned, pumpers find good comfort at levels I could not tolerate, even now.

In general, though, if you get a good, expanded erection at, say, 4 hg, that’s all you need for your workout.

The point is gradual growth, gradually “cemented.” That’s the gain you get to keep. The rest is totally temporary show with the possibility of injury just for a few minutes of a visual high.

Thanks for the comments. That makes good sense. I will relay the message.

Larry,

First pump I bought in 1989 didn’t have a gauge….I’ve not sustained any untoward effects that I’m aware of.

Actually not having a gauge has been fortituous for me. I use shave cream as lube…I don’t have to rinse my cylinders out that often…but shave cream will form up and bleed into line. I just put line in warm water and pump water through line and pump…couldn’t do that with a gauge.

Just my experiences…
