Manual pressure vs Electric pressure

For you guys out there that have both an electric pump and a manual pump (with gauge), what has been your experience in the differences in the pressure between the two mechanisms? For example, when I’m pumping with my DP4000, hitting 8Hg using the machine feels totally different than hitting 8Hg with brass manual pump. The machine induced pressure feel so much stronger than the manual, even though the readings are supposedly the same. Is there a way to reconcile the two? And which one, in your opinion, would you consider to be more accurate?

I don’t have an electric pump but the differences you feel are likely due to accuracy of the guages or the automatic pump shut off valve.

Just plug your handpump into the electric one set it to a constant vac and then check the gauge on the hand pump.
I tested my mityvac this way and the gauge was spot on.

I do feel a difference in sensation between manual and electric only as they pump up to pressure not when they’re static.
Put it down to the smoothness of the electric and the slight vibration caused by the frequency of the pump pulsing.

This is what I was going to point out. Remember the electric pump is being driven at 60 cycles per second and even though that is very fast, I think it makes a pronounced difference in the feeling between a steady state hand pump and the electric pump. Since I have been using an electric, I find it more effective and even more pleasurable then a hand pump.

I too find electric more pleasurable than by hand, even if it does require a bit more setup. I did the test by switching from one to the other and the pressure on the manual gauge was off only slightly. Yet, even when I push the DP-4000 to the max at 13Hg, it’s more intense than 13Hg on the manual. To get the same pull, I had to go up to 17Hg.
