Pump/Cylinder

Pump/Cylinder

Hey :

I decided to ditch the old brass pump and get a package with the Silverline Metal Vac Pump and a new cylinder. Can anyone suggest where to order? I’m a little afraid to order from West Coast as the LAPumps ad doesn’t say if their pump is plastic or Metal. Or if any of you guys have the LaPump package: How long does it take to get and Is their pump metal or plastic. Thanks, Steve

I just got an LA Pump, The pumping mechanism (chamber and piston) appear to be brass. The cylinder (where the penis goes) is some form of transparent plastic (possibly acrylic). It seems to work fine, and was delivered to my doorstep within a week of ordering, via standard UPS ground.

Hey steve. I dont know anything about LA pumps, but I do know that Kaplan’s pumps are good. I got a Kaplan pump back in February and I dont any complaints about it yet. When I ordered it, it didnt take long at all to come in. I can’t remember the exact time. The cylinder is made of a hard plastic, and even though it is plastic, it is very durable. Also, the hand pumper is plastic. I havent had any trouble with any part of the package. Also, Kaplan’s pumps are much cheaper than LA pumps. However, I am pretty sure that LA pumps, hand pumper is made of metal. Hope all this helps. Good Luck. TRI-CITIES IN THA HOUSE. YEA

Hello TennSteven,
I have ordered a 2x9” pump from vacutec pump, it is a bit more expensive than Kaplan, they have more than 20 yaers experience, I got the pump very quickly, I am pumping since two week now and it is OK. They also answer very quikly to the e-mail questions.
Cheers

Guys:

Surely there’s someone that has purchased the LaPump Package that can tell me if the single hand pump is made of plastic or metal? Come on. Thanks Massive, dansan, and Modesto. Again thanks in advance. Steve

Why don’t you just read there?

Quote:
"Metal construction pump with psi gauge for accuracy and safety. …"

If you are looking at the site (La Pumps)the pumps on sale are definately metal.

The deluxe pump with gauge has a shipping weight of 1.40lbs.
My plastic pump with gauge is only a few ounces in weight.
The only downside of the La pump seems to be that the gauge is stated as p.s.i.(pounds per square inch)and not “Hg (inches mercury or vacuum pressure)

I think there is a conversion table somewhere on the posts,it just seems stupid of La pumps to put a psi gauge on in the first place,as psi measures the pressure put in,not the vacuum drawn out.

I received my LA pump today. The single hand pump is brass alright. Nice and heavy.

Who told you this? The gauge is actually stated as inches mercury on the outer ring and as mm mercury on the inner ring.

The La pump website told me that the gauge was p.s.i.

If your gauge is a vacuum type that’s great.

Pity they can’t alter the (psi) part and put vacuum instead.

Sorry, I never thought about this before I read your post. I assumed the gauge would be inches Hg/mm Hg when I read the articles on pumping. Since they mentioned 5 inches Hg as the optimal vacuum and also recommended La pumps I assumed the gauge would be stated in inches Hg. I guess I wasn’t very observant when I ordered the pump :)

Is it possible they put on different gauge scales depending on where they ship?

No problemo DirkGently.

I can’t understand why they have the gauge as p.s.i. at all.

Perhaps it can double up to check tyre pressures?

It’s probably a mistake by the web designer as p.s.i. gauges are more common than vacuum gauges.
I can’t think any pumper would want p.s.i. scale,no matter where they live.
