I think NIR and Red Light for heating is the way to go. There is so much research backing up the effects of both. I really think there’s a substantial amount of promise with using it as a heat source.
Following the research that Kypra has put massive effort into regarding US, I think it would be super beneficial to have more members using/recording data but with NIR and Red Light as a substitute. The cost to entry is way lower, as well as the technical application. However, I think what Kypra and the members with US are doing can still be applied here, (i.e. stretch cold, then stretch while applying NIR/Red Light, and then cool down). I know that the effectiveness of heating internally with NIR might not be as effective as it is with US, in terms of getting to the golden temp ranges safely, however NIR/Red Light are still wildly effective at heating internal tissue, and some of the research regarding collagen formation, inflammation reduction and ect. are more than promising.
As for how to apply NIR / Red Light, I think lamps have to be the worst form of application. As you will only be able to realistically target one “side” at a time. Ive considered the total man NIR pad, however my only gripe with the pad is that it only has NIR light. Which while more than likely is still miles ahead of using a regular heating pad, or rice sock or whatever. Having Red Light in addition to NIR seems to be a must. Red Light itself has shown to do amazing things for the dermal / sub-dermal layers, that I think being able to apply both light sources in tandem is ideal.
I will be picking up a NIR / Red Light wrap(pad), along with an extender within the next month. Im currently in a decon from my pumping routine. I will more than likely open a new thread at that time, following Kypras protocol, only I will be substituting the US for the NIR/RL pad. Ill try to be as transparent as possible with the routine, gains or lack thereof, but Im hoping it can prove that there is a realistic promise for the application of NIR/RL in PE. As right now, while there are several threads or comments about NIR/RL, it seems like only a small percentage of members have actually used it in PE. It seems the majority of members are in mainly two camps right now, those who are trying the US, and those who use standard heating methods. It also seems like a majority of those who have tried NIR/RL have used lamps as the applicator, which usually gets complaints when it starts frying their skin. Wraps or pads, have the benefit of being made up of much smaller LEDs, with the intention of the user wrapping the pad directly on the skin. So it should get well within the target ranges of necessary heat, without causing any burning or other problems.
