What's the deal with LAP Dist.?

I got the pump in June.

Last weekend I noticed a hairline crack in the cylinder, near the base - the cylinder is still working so I’m using it, but I tried to contact LAP Dist via e-mail and got a returned e-mail. I left a message, and haven’t heard back.

What’s the deal?

The owner handles most of the email. Be patient. I know that he often attends trade shows or just takes off to get a break from the daily grind.

Turns out his server doesn’t like my e-mail server, so he called and we worked it out.

Great guy.

Maybe he needs to put a new blade in the bandsaw?

He was telling me that the 25 1/4” cylinder size is for double stage pumping - glad to get that cleared up, I was worried. And he regaled me with other stories, which I’m not sure if I should share. But he’s very cool.

I was already happy with my purchase - and I’m very happy with his customer service efforts.

He also explained that there are different types of plastic/acryllic that cylinders are made from. They have gone with a type that is similar to windshield plastic which doesn’t break into sharp shards, but rather ‘crazes’ and is therefore less likely to cause injury in the event that shatters. Good call, I say.

This makes the tube a bit senisitive to being bumped and whacked. So take note. And if you are travelling, pack that sucka with care.

I have to send the defective tube back. So I’ll be without my pumping for a few days. :(

Who knew I’d like it so much?

Well, apart from Avocet and super who told me so in the first place.

What’s nice about pumping, I think, is that it does feel good without being over-the-edge, in the erotic sense. Also, you can multi-task while you do it (catch up on world news), it requires no heavy stuff pulling on you for long periods of time, and during breaks you can do manual exercises as an adjunct.

Let us know when you get to the 25.25 tube. We will then make suggestions as to how you might having something akin to normal sex. :)

Good to hear the :_pump: is being replaced.

Pumping is great. I’ve been doing it for about 3-4 months, and I don’t regret any of it, mainly because I never overdid it.

Well, actually the pump is fine, it’s the cylinder that is a little weird.

All kidding aside I’m having a replacement 9” X 2” cylinder shipped. I don’t fill it.

My cylinder was broken too and they send me new one at no charge quickly.

I’m thinking of buying a lager cylinder. Does anyone know if there are any problems using an LAP cylinder with a Kaplan hand pump? Are the fittings the same?

I don’t know from personal experience, but I’ve read in other posts that they are the same.

It looks as if the CPC tube connectors have become the standard for pumps.

I use my homemade pump/cylinder combination, and I got it for $40. Mityvac from Autozone, and now a 12” x 2.5” gravel aquarium cleaner.
