Pain at base of penis from manual stretching
I was doing manually stretches for only the 2nd day after restarting PE after 10 years, pulling my penis to the left and holding for about 20s after warming up in the shower for 10min. I was applying moderate pressure, nothing intense when I felt a sharp pain at the base right side of my penis.
I immediately stopped and the following 2 weeks I had intense burning/stabbing pain in that one spot accompanied by pelvic floor pain. It subsided some the following 2 weeks to moderate, with no pelvic floor pain and now (week 5-6) it is now slightly irritable/burning but not as intense. I basically did not touch my penis within this 6 week stretch of time to allow for optimal healing and recovery.
I went to my GP and they said it appears I may have strained my ischiocavernosus muscle, but they can’t tell for certain without an MRI. They recommended me to pelvic floor PT and they also said basically the same thing, healing should take between 4-6 weeks and gave me some basic hip flexor/leg stretches to do. I am approaching week 6 but it is still very sensitive to movement and erection and easy to re-agitate. It looks like the healing process will be much longer unfortunately.
Has anyone strained their IC muscle before? If so what did the healing process look like and did you have any recovery tips? There’s not much information out there regarding this type of injury from what I’ve researched. Thank you
