Calcium for erections

[ED] Logs: Mechanisms Of Erection

It’s late and I’m tired but this article is saying calcium is needed for erections yeah?

That’s interesting cause I’ve been taking ZMA for a while now without calcium and am getting lots of cramps and marks on teeth, signs of calcium deficiency. Well I’m guessing I better start taking some calcium and maybe drop the ZMA for a bit. Hopefully this will help as part of my erection rehabilitation programme.

Maybe this info is of use to somebody else,

Or maybe not!

Got milk?

I drink it everyday.

Oh, I am going to hear from the milk haters.

No need to give up ZMA. Just space calcium and zinc as far away from each other as possible, as calcium prevents the absorption of zinc.

I take zinc immediately after dinner (keeping in mind to avoid dairy as much as possible).

Then an hour or two later, I take calcium/magnesium/vitamin d with a protein shake right before bed. Since the zinc has an hour or so to absorb before I take the calcium, it works great for me.

I don’t take ZMA, I think it’s a BS supp. The zinc improves testosterone levels (if they were deficient due to zinc in the first place only), and the magnesium helps with restful sleep. There is nothing magical about them being combined at the same time like that.

I much prefer taking zinc picolinate on its own, and doing calcium/magnesium later at night before bed.

Of course many people love ZMA and swear by it, but to each his own. I’m just saying there are other ways to get the same benefits without having to fork over 10 bucks a bottle for something that wouldn’t cost more than 4 bucks if you took all those supplements separately.

edit: I used to take zinc and calcium at the same time, and yes, I definitely noticed that the zinc was not working the way it should. When I started spacing them out, things got MUCH better.

Calcium just doesn’t play nice with other supps and should be taken on its own with only Magnesium and Vitamin D (and Boron).

Cool sounds a good plan man. I will do that. How much Zinc you take? You worry about Copper at all? I heard it lowers with using too much zinc as well?

cheers

I used to take 50mg of zinc gluconate, but now take 22mg of zinc picolinate since it’s better absorbed. No need to worry about copper unless you megadose zinc, and if you megadose zinc, you’ll be more worried about the constant stomach aches and vomiting more than copper :)

Not to mention, I love to supplement with spirulina algae for vitality, detoxification, and cardio (sexual) endurance. Added benefit of spirulina is that it has a bit of copper in it.

So what you might wanna do is take the ZMA the same time I’d take my zinc. Then wait and have the calcium later. Calcium needs magnesium to be absorbed right…and you are getting magnesium with the ZMA…but I don’t know if magnesium needs to be taken at the exact same time as the calcium…might require a bit of research.

All the calcium in the world isn’t going to do you shit unless you have adequate vitamin D for your body to process it. How often to you get out in the Sun?

…which is why it’s a good idea to find a calcium supplement that contains not only magnesium, but vitamin d as well to aid it. Vitamin D supps are miniscule, granted, but luckily your body stores Vitamin D. So be sure to get plenty of sun during the summer months. (winter sunlight has very little vit d)

Yeah tahts what I’ve got vit, mag, cal combo. As for the sun, well LOL you can see the other thread I just posted just now. I have been seeing a lot of sun and sun beds recently but never again. I will never let the sun touch my skin again.

I’m the same way, the sun is just too hard on my pale white skin.

FWIW, my favorite calcium supplement is Schiff, they really know how to do it. I prefer Schiff Calcium/Magnesium/Vit D. My hair grows very fast while I take it, and my fingernails are very hard now. When I halt, my nails get thin and bendy the way they have always been. So apparently some of it is doing me good at least.

I actually prefer the Schiff (calcium carbonate, supposedly an inferior form) to Citrical.

Just as going overboard with Sun exposure isn’t good for you, going under-board is equally not good for you. The Sun is what brings life to this planet. As previously mentioned, it is needed for vitamin D production in your body and the light from the Sun also is needed to prevent depression, known as the SAD syndrome. Eliminating Sun exposure will be bad for you health.

This is just one more example that you are having trouble finding the middle ground. Stop living life by going to the extreme boundaries.

Hmm…interesting.

Maybe I should drink more milk.

gprent, believe it or not some people are so sensitive to the sun they shouldn’t be in it at all, per doctor’s orders. especially with the warming, hole in ozone, etc. i’ll stop there though I don’t want this to turn into a political debate ;)

mmm personally I never had a problem with the sun. I liked tanning but don’t want any more wrinkles having over done it.

Sorry kingdong, and everyone else, I dont mean to harp on my favorite supplement in the world, zinc, but I can’t believe I forgot to say this about it!

Regarding overdosing, you really don’t need to worry about it, because when you blow your load, you also blow your zinc reserves! Same with being athletic.

That is not true. You can overdose on zinc.
