Cialis not working well. What does this mean?

I got cialis some time ago from my urologist after I told him I am experiencing ED and am unable to get an erection for intercourse. They don’t seem to be working- I do notice better flacid hang and maybe it’s easier to get a semi erection, but it still doesn’t put me close to an intercourse erection, nor to hold a strong erection if I manage to get one for a few seconds.

I am 20 years old and am in decent shape, no major problems or disease that I know of, generally pretty healthy.

So what does this mean when cialis does not work for me? Does it mean that I have a “plumbing” problem? Does it mean that I have a serious venous leak that cialis cannot overcome? Does it simply mean that cialis doesn’t work right with my body and another drug such as levitra or viagra would work? And what if they don’t work, what would that mean?

Any information would be great, thanks you.

I have no idea dude. All I know is that when you’re feeling down…you just want to talk to someone that has the same problem as you…so I wanna chat. I think I have a v leak. I show all the symptoms. I’m also young (19) and in good body shape.

Too many people on here assume they have a v. Leak when more than likely it’s psychological. An erection starts in the brain, and is maintained in the brain. Even small disruptions in the brain’s focus can cause problems with getting an erection, or maintaining one. Keep in mind that Cialis doesn’t automatically give you an erection. You still have to be aroused and WANT sex for Cialis or other erectile drugs to work properly. Once the mind is relaxed and truly desiring sex, then Cialis does it’s job. You have to assess the issues of the brain that are causing problems.

PEfanatic, I can’t say that I’m perfect in this regard, but I think I’ve learned to calm down and relax in these situations. I think in my situation it’s relatively safe to say that the cialis does not work as well as it does for others.

Alex,

You may very well be right, I was just offering my two cents. I know for me, levitra works the best of the three.

What dosage of Cialis did you try? And did you mix it with any other drugs?

Bluray, I took the recommended amount which is 10mg, and did not mix it with anything else.

If you can get an erection when you are alone watching porn or something then you probably don’t have a venous leak. You probably have performance anxiety or other psychological barrier to getting an erection. If you can never get an erection then you need to see your urologist for an blood flow ultrasound of the penis and maybe a hormone workup. I had massive performance anxiety after a divorce and I used cialis at the time to get me back on track. However,if you are really stressed out and have no interest in sex then cialis will not help. I believe that caverjet injections on the other hand will cause an erection whether you want it or not but that’s probably last resort option from you urologist. The pills require you to be in the mood for sex.

I have seen a few times guys saying only Cialis or Viagra worked for them and the other didn’t, maybe your one of those guys? 10mg of Cialis gives me a super erection for days after so something isn’t right. Did your doctor give you an expired Cialis sample pack? That probably wouldn’t make too big of a difference though.

Go back and get a free Viagra sample pack, just about any doctor can give it to you these days.

I don’t agree with the fact that if you can get an erection by yourself, you don’t have a venous leak. It’s not black and white- a venous leak can be minor, resulting in only sub-par erections, and may worsen over time. It may be that the constant stimulation that you can have when masturbating by yourself overshadows the venous leak if it is minor.

Bluray, I was planning on doing this. Will I need to contact my general physician first for a referral or can I just contact my urologist? Do I even need to make an appointment or could he just have me come in and pick it up?

I have ED due to diabetes. I have been using Viagra for many years and it generally works well (unfortunately, I sometimes need 100mg due to my condition). Several years ago I tried Cialis and it didn’t work other than a better flaccid dick similar to your experience.

Occasionally(maybe 20% of the time), even the Viagra doesn’t do the trick. I find that when it doesn’t work it is usually too close after eating a big meal. Make sure you don’t take it on a full stomach. Also your stomach should not be completely empty either. When I drink too much the night before I sometimes have a problem.

Thanks for the advice, dtwarren. Question- I’m not too familiar with diabetes and the treatments and everything. Aren’t there pills or anything that minimize the effects of diabetes? Or is the only thing to do is eat a good diet and exercise? Also, I have 1 grandparent that has diabetes, and I am in fairly good shape at 20 years old. How likely would it be for me to have diabetes in your opinion?

Different doctors usually have different preferences on how they like to deal with people, the doctor that gave me Cialis I just walked into his office and asked the woman at the window if I could briefly see the doctor and when they asked why I just said personal reasons so they took me back he came in and I asked him if I could try a Cialis sample. He didn’t charge me or anything just busted my balls a bit on the way out in front of his female nurses…that jerk lol.

My main doctor though would freak if you came without an appointment he sees people all day non stop and doesn’t have time for walk ins.

Alex553, I was not suggesting that you have diabetes. I was only mentioning it as the reason that I need to take Viagra. Type 2 diabetes usually does not come on until much later in life - I was 55. I seriously doubt a healthy 20 year old has type 2 diabetes unless you are seriously over weight.

I am only suggesting that you try Viagra based on my poor experience with Cialis.

BTW, good diet and exercise is a treatment for and can help prevent type 2 diabetes if you are predisposed to diabetes. Taking pills is another alternative treatment. Unfortunately, my pancreas is too far gone so in addition to the above treatments, I also have to inject insulin.

I agree with bluray. Unless you have a good relationship with your doctor, you need an appointment. My endocrinologist gave me free samples of each during a scheduled visit.

I am only suggesting that you try Viagra based on my poor experience with Cialis and also that the contents of your stomach can alter the effectiveness of either of the supplements.
