I started taking 3 capsules a day of 40mg Gingko extract with the CVS brand on it. Does anyone else take this? Has it helped your memory and concentration?

I took Gingko for about a month and didn’t notice any effect.

Edited to add: I used Member’s Mark brand, 60 mg pills. I think I got them at Costco. The bottle says standardized to 24% Gingko Flavone. I took 3-6 per day, spread out. One or two at a time.

Mike, I take 120mg of Ginko extract 45 mins before weight training. It does make a difference. It focuses me slightly more during the workouts and makes me feel calm without detracting from my agression. It is subtle in it’s effects but it makes a possitive difference which is much needed when you need every ounce of focus during weight training. I believe it’s concentration effects are caused by it’s ability to supply the brain with better blood circulation. It gives the whole body better blood circulation.

I recommend you use it only when you need it because you may adabt to it if you use it all the time. It’ effects are more likely to be pronounced and noticable if you aren’t usually on it and then take it. So I only take it 2-3 times a week 45mins before weight training.

Didn’t help my memory, but made it easy for minor bumps to bruise.

Look into Phosphatidylserine—-pamplets and books on it are sold at bookstores and/or gnc and health food stores. It can also be bought at GNC and at health food stores in capsule form. No side effects have ever been reported and in studies it has shown the abilty to eventually reverse the memory back to the way it was 12 years younger. Increases the abilty to concentate. From what I’ve read about it, it is believed to blow gingko away.

If you take more doesn’t it increase your blood pressure?

Mike, it might, I haven’t fully researched it so I don’t know. As I only take it twice a week for weight training, I don’t need to worry. If you were taking it every day then maybe you wouldn’t want to take a high dose, but I can’t be sure. I think you might want to research on the net if you intend to take it every day. I doubt the dose that most companies put in each 1 a day capsule are the highest dose recommended. Standard multi-vitamin supplements never have enough vitamins in their 1 a day pills. Cod liver oil capsules also don’t give as much in each daily serving as is optimal. Most common health supplements don’t dose as high as is optimal.
