Multivitamin

Hey guys,

Tried searching but all I get was about PE supplements related. I am looking for a good (best) Multi-Vitamin Supplements out there. There are so many multivitamins in any stores that I don’t know how to choose which is best(price + Quality). This is in terms about Overall health. Any suggestions? More popular suggestions I have had were (Centrum, One a day Men, etc). And if possible please state whats great about the Multivitamin supplement.

Now I don’t know if this should go to Supplement section but, its really not for PE related, just in Health in General.

You could make a case for sticking it in the Fitness forum as well; but, “Not Covered Elsewhere” is a safe bet.

I don’t know which is the best but you might also want to consider the advantages of greatly improved absorption with a liquid delivery system.

Animal Pack

If Animal Pack is too expensive, alternate I guess is GNC Men’s Mega Men MultiVitamin.

When you are PEing.... he sees.

animal pack, hmm I never heard of it, I guess I will look into it..

But more likely I’d go with the Alternative GNC’s Mega Multivitamins.. Anyone else got any suggestions?

Search for a liquid equivalent to what you seek, far better/faster absorption and less passed in waste.

I take the generic equivalent of centrum performance.

There is no point to selecting high priced mega dose vitamins. Two picks highly rated by Mens Health magazine are Centrum Silver and One-A-Day Mens, and both are reasonably priced with all of the essential vitamins and minerals.

Whatever you select, don’t pick one with iron. Men should not supplement iron.

why shouldn’t men supplement with iron?

Who should be cautious about taking iron supplements?

Iron deficiency is uncommon among adult men and postmenopausal women. These individuals should only take iron supplements when prescribed by a physician because of their greater risk of iron overload. Iron overload is a condition in which excess iron is found in the blood and stored in organs such as the liver and heart. Iron overload is associated with several genetic diseases including hemochromatosis, which affects approximately 1 in 250 individuals of northern European descent [67]. Individuals with hemochromatosis absorb iron very efficiently, which can result in a build up of excess iron and can cause organ damage such as cirrhosis of the liver and heart failure [1,3,67-69]. Hemochromatosis is often not diagnosed until excess iron stores have damaged an organ. Iron supplementation may accelerate the effects of hemochromatosis, an important reason why adult men and postmenopausal women who are not iron deficient should avoid iron supplements. Individuals with blood disorders that require frequent blood transfusions are also at risk of iron overload and are usually advised to avoid iron supplements.

yikes. thank you!

I agree with gprent. There’s no need to OD on vitamins, and men should avoid extra iron.

I use the Wall-mart version of one-a-day for men’s health.

As far as absorption goes, I learned an old trick from a bodybuilding friend of mine. Just chew the vitamin. That greatly increases the absorption.

Incidentally, I know wall-mart is spelled with a single L, but the spell checker won’t let me do that.

You can get them for under 20 bucks on the net and 29 at the vitamin shoppe. I also only take one back not two so they last me 2 months instead of one. They are the first vitamin I have ever felt something after taking.
