My Chemical Love Affair

Here are some of the drugs, nutrients, vitamins that I have found helpful to my sex life. Perhaps others will post their favs as well.
First, I must say that there are two books that gave me most of my ideas. !) "Better Sex Through Chemistry" and, (2) Dr. Wong’s "Care of Feeding of a Penis".

1) Maca powder - libido enhancer. Allegedly works by ridding body of excess estrogen which males get with age and with burgeoning pollutants. Historically used
In Peru for this purpose. I don’t know if any scientific studies have been performed.

2) Pantothenic Acid- Take 500 mgs about thirty minutes before sex. Helps your staying power.

3) Zinc - 90 mg/day

4) bromocriptine- released dopamine. Usually used with Parkinsons disease. Evey been in a Parkinson’s ward. Those guys are getting laid!

5) L-Arginine. 3-4 grams/day. Start off at 1 gram a day or you will get the runs.

6) Super X from Chi’s Enterprises. Guys, this will put some lead in your pencil

I have used #1, #2 and #5 which are very useful to me for sure. However, 90mg/day zinc is too much IMO unless you workout.

This is the first time that I have heard anything about pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). How does it work? How do you feel after taking it?

Maybe the reason SuperX works is it supposedly contains the active ingredient in Viagra - here’s one link to that effect:

PS - The drug czars are looking for any and all excuses to slap more regulations on the supplements industry. Not good.

Mabye the band members are addicted to Viagra.

As far as pantothenic acid is concerned it is for staying power. By that I mean that not only does it prevent premature ejaculation but you can have sex a long time without ejaculating. Check it out. 500 mg, 30 minutes before sex. You can get it at your local vitamine seller.

As for 90 mg of zinc being too much, according to my sources 90 mgs is well below toxic, though it is high. I do workout though.

According to the label, two tablets of Super-X contains the following:

Tongkat Ali 400 mg
Cistanche desrticola 200 mg
Epimedium brevicornum maxim 200 mg
Panax ginseng 200 mg

EXACTLY.that’s is where I got the idea for the subject!

Here are some supplements that i have used that work well for my health and my penis’s health:

1. Tongkat Ali 1:50 raw powder (about 1 gram 2x a day, 4-5 days a week)
2. L-Arginine (1000 mg 2x a day on empty stomach)
3. L-Ornithine (250 mg 2x a day on empty stomach)
4. Garlic (either raw or pill, amount varies)

I work out regularly, 5 days a week. If there’s a break in my routine or something then I usually lower my dosage of supplements.

How much garlic do you take? How do you think it enhances your performance? I don’t doubt that it does but I
Was just wondering what effects you have noticed. Do you think the pill form is as helpful as the fresh form?

I take my arginine all in the morning. Many recommend taking it before bed, but I notice that it disturbs my sleep
If I do it then.

I didn’t really mean that garlic enhances my performance, i just think it enhances my overall health. I don’t know how much I take, the pills are 1000mg. I often cook with garlic and sometimes eat it raw.

Pantothenic acid really sounds interesting. I wonder why it is not more popular. Anyway, I want to give it a try!

Where do you get your info on how much to take?
The RDA on pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is 6 mg.
And Zinc is 15 mg to 19 mg.

I personally think these are bs numbers for anything effective to happen!

Why do they call it RDA( Recommended Dietary Allowance ) anyway, it makes it sound like if you take more than that something bad will happen, when truth is, if you take the RDA, it’s not enough to do jack.

That is very interesting info with the B5 and Premature ejaculation, where did you get this info?

I did some search on Google groups re Vitamin B5 and premature ejaculation. In the groups about acne, there are quite a number of posts about the side effects of Vitamin B5 - delayed ejaculation.

Zinc dosage up to 30mg/day is considered safe for all individuals. Up to 90mg is considered a reasonable dose for a doctor to perscribe, such as for control of acne. It’s thought to be a high dose and one that should be watched for complications, however. The most common side effect? Upset stomach. However, zinc is involved in the regulation not only of androgens but the immune system as well, and can suppress either in an overdose condition. If you’ve been 90mg for a while now and feeling good with it, more power to you. Individual needs and tolerances vary, and for some people, 90mg will actually suppress immune and sexual function.

One of the things a person needs to monitor when taking significant amounts of zinc is the ratio of zinc to copper. While copper is very toxic in large amounts, paradoxically it is required in small amounts and here’s at least one reason why: enzymes - some of the body’s most powerful enzymes are protein chelates of bimetal combinations like zinc/copper (e.g., super oxide dismutase, SOD) and magnesium/copper. Zinc in significant quantities can/will drive copper out. A decent ratio of zinc to copper is on the order of 3:1-5:1. This means a person needs to read lables very carefully and look for sources of both zinc and copper and adjust their supplement ratio accordingly.
