No problem man. I too am passionate about the matter, for different reasons. My response was harsh as well. But we both seem to have good intentions.
Dino- Sadly, I am not mistaken. Accutane is very similiar to Finasteride. Your description about Accutane isn’t all that detailed. First off, Roche Holding didn’t take Accutane off because it was losing ground to generics. Accutane is a blockbuster drug, and due to many class-action suits, Roche Holding took it’s best selling drug off the market. Generics will soon follow. Accutane was found to cause Inflammatory Bowel Disease in some, and they took their problems to court. Sadly, many other suffers of Accutane’s side effects simply don’t know or can’t seem to associate certain problems with their Accutane use; it’s only a "lucky" select few that come to this conclusion.

Exactly how Accutane works is not known in precise detail; however, it appears that Accutane treats acne by reducing the secretion of sebum. If less sebum is secreted it is likely that there will be less inflammation and keratinization. Roche Laboratories Inc., is the maker of Accutane acne medication.
Again, Accutane and Finasteride are both 5-Alpha reductase inhibitors, which is the enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. There are two types of 5-AR: 5-AR I enzyme which is mostly found in your sebaceous glands (in your face), and 5-AR II which is mostly found in the scalp, and the prostate. Accutane targets 5-AR I enzyme, while Finasteride targets 5-AR II enzyme. However, is it completely accurate to say that Accutane only affects 5-AR-I (predominately in face)? No. Since Accutane isn’t localized in the form of a cream, or gel, it goes through the bloodstream throughout your body, destroying 5-AR, reducing the conversion of T to DHT, screwing up your HTPA, which could potentially lead to hypogonadism among other things. This is why people who take Accutane, sometimes get the side effects of Finasteride, such as a full head of hair. Also, how some people who take Finasteride have their faces clear up, become less oily, and acne go away (happen to you?). It’s more complicated than this, and I don’t want to go looking for good links, because I can’t seem to find them in my favorites, and I’m not going to post a bull-shit link. Go fishing though. I will look later and post some good ones.
