Seeking advice from baldies about hairloss

Hey guys,

I started to thin at my crown about 7 months ago. I have no thinning at all on my front hairline and my hair still grows quickly (I need a haircut every 2 and a half - 3 weeks). I’m 27 and in very good condition physically/health wise.

Over the last 2 months it seems that the thinning has increased very rapidly. It seems that every week I look in the mirror (my mirror at home, as I work away and live in hotels a lot, so don’t really ‘go’ off those mirrors) - it has progressed quite dramatically from the previous week.

I thought it was maybe all in my head, but recently 2 of my female friends and 1 of my male friends have made comments (nicely phrased ones though!) about how quickly my hair seems to be going.

What I’d like to hear is how quickly/slowly things progressed for you guys? Whether my situation is unusually quick or not? And if it is, could there be some other medical reason for this speed other than simple genetics etc?

WI

Minoxidil and Finasteride have halted and reversed my thinning. I don’t think mine thinned remarkably fast but was very noticable 10 years ago, which is when I started using Rogaine. Last year I started using finasteride too, .8mg per day and dropped to once per day with the Rogaine. Today my hair is not thin on top at all. Too bad my hairline hasn’t recovered much ground.

I think it’s primarily genetic if your thinning is in the typical places for MPB.

Treat it now, since you can probably recover fully if you do. What I’m doing only costs me about $12 per month.

wondering if:

Sounds like you have classical male pattern baldness. You should be an ideal candidate for topical minoxidil.

Check it out guys, no need to have a big dick if you ain't gonna use it!!

has anyone here ever heard of 17 year olds thinning out? my brother started losing hair when he was 17. he shaves his head and used to take creatine and a protein supplement. i’m pretty ignorant about this topic, but could he just be balding young?

In it for the long run (and the long one!).

My brother had a friend in high school that was very, very thin by the time he graduated. He joined the Navy, and by the time he got back 4 years later, he was almost as bald as they come.
