IPL isn’t laser but apart from that, interesting.

I’ve actually used IPL on my balls and it was fine.

We’ll just call it las’r, like the vegetarians do with be’f and chick’n, and then it’s all fine.

It’s like "electrolysis", which the marketing types attach to anything vaguely relatedto hair removal nowadays.

Same here. Though I have to turn the intensity down a couple of notches or I’ll get sunburn there.

I’ve never had a cut from shaving balls with a safety razor, even when being careless. Electric clippers are a whole different story, and they no longer go anywhere near the scrotum. I’ve gotten nipped most every time I’ve tried clippers even with a short guard, sometimes badly.

BTW, if you strop your commercial safety razor on a bath towel after every use the blades last a VERY long time. I don’t remember when I last replaced mine, but even then it was out of curiousity whether a brand new blade would work better than the 2 or more year old one I had been using. It didn’t. 3 blade Gillette.

Does IPL tend to cause ingrown hairs? I’ve never had any from shaving balls, but it can be an issue on other body parts.

IPL tends to cure ingrown hairs. Laser is better at that though just because it’s much better at destroying roots. Both seem to work on the same principle, they heat the hair under the skin to the point that it destroys the root. You have to repeat through a number of growth cycles because a root with no hair in it is unaffected. Neither works that well if the difference between the skin and hair is minimal, so darker skin is harder and blonder hair is harder. The best situation is very white skin with very dark hair. Gray hair is unaffected.

This.

You have to shave right before doing IPL and the zapping of the hair and root actually prevents ingrown hairs.

If I just shave my balls and shaft, I ALWAYS (35 ingrown hairs and razor burn.
If I shave and then use the IPL, I have no skin or ingrown hair issues due to the shaving.

My one gray ball hair is the lone survivor and stands proud if I haven’t shaved/IPLd in a few weeks…

STARTING: BPEL: 5.9in EG: 5.0in

2018: BPEL: 6.7in EG: 5.3in

NOW (start 1/2024): BPEL: 6.9in. EG: 5.4in

Interesting info… was contemplating doing this myself to reduce shaving needs.
