Molluscum can be transmitted sexually but is not an STD. What’s the difference then? If you do not have an outbreak of warts you can still transmit HPV. To transmit molluscum the person with molluscum needs to have an open bump and the other person needs to have an open cut. Or, you can get it by sharing a towel (that’s one of the ways I think I may have got it). So you can see it’s harder to transmit molluscum than it is HPV.
This is interesting. I had an episode about 18 years ago in which I discovered some dark round lumps on my shaft. When I had it looked at by a dermatologist he said it was genital warts and froze them and gave me a topical treatment.
After a couple occurrences over a couple years I finally eliminated them and I have not seen anything similar for over 10 years. I did not have a biopsy, and just assumed it was HPV.The difference between them seems almost semantic, in that they only differ by name. They are both can be sexually transmitted, both caused by virus, both can persist for years.
It appears that the molluscum is only transmitted by direct contact with a lesion, and does not persist in the body. Now I’m not sure what to think about it.
Just for the record I am not dumb when it comes to STDs.
And tinytim, I want to just that a lot of times HPV is taken care of by your body. So you may have an outbreak-and the first is normally the worst. Depending on what type of HPV strain you have, there are about 100 different types of the virus. Normally after the first outbreak you may or may not have anymore for the rest of your life. It’s kind of like Herpes, I have HSV-1 I believe and it affects my lips mostly. When I was little my first outbreak with the virus was horrible. The doctor counted 7 herpes sores. It hurt so bad. But after that I rarely have an outbreak unless I’m stressed out. Even then, it’s nowhere as bad as the first outbreak.

There are something like 40 strains of HPV that commonly infect the genitals. The two types that cause 90% of genital warts (strains 6 and 11, I think) are generally NOT dangerous. So even if you have warts on your dick, it’s really nothing to worry about, beyond getting them removed. The strains of HPV associated with cervical cancer (and other cancers) are not generally detectable in a man, and there isn’t much you can do to avoid infection with those strains, other than use condoms to reduce the risk.
My understanding is that the vast majority of men and women will acquire and clear various strains of HPV throughout their sexual careers.

I forgot what you went to the doctor for in the other thread NT but STD screening is free isn’t it? With sperm/urine sample they can pretty much detect anything can’t they? No medical professional can say that it IS something unless they know for certain.

I went to the doctor for other things other than my penis. I had a few more problems (that are not serious) that require me to visit a couple times a year.
To refresh everyone on my other issue. I had a bump on my penis that went away leaving a scar. I wanted to get it checked out. That and
I had a bad discharge coming out of my navel. It would crust over and become inflammed.
Not all STD tests are free. I know of the HIV swab tests that are free. Other than that nothing else. And if I got the regular STD test it wouldnt include a test for HPV and it would cost me money to get that test ran.
So the visit put me back $100 just to get in and another $100 for my new medicine and body wash. And in order for me to get to a Urologist to get the spot checked out I would have to pay $300 up front.
I am signing up for Obamacare soon to see if it could help me get to a doctor.
Regardless of everything I was treated badly when I went in and I am looking for another Dermatologist. You do not sit there and say things like “oh it lools like HPV.” To a patient and do not run the required tests.

As for medical professionals I don’t think there are any anymore. This thread and the other one wouldn’t exist if I was told what I had or didn’t have. She assumed I have a disease and doesn’t even know. She has caused me much more mental problems since that last visit it isnt funny.

I think I read somewhere that the dangerous strains of HPV (i.e. the ones associated with cervical cancer) do not produce warts. If this is correct then the first warning sign that you have this dangerous virus could be the news of a partner getting cervical cancer. Can anyone confirm if this is factually correct?

I may have figured out what happened. When I use my penis pump, my penis will rub against the tube. It may have rubbed the old skin off and what I’m seeing is the new brighter skin.

A lot of times the warts are so small you can’t see them. I also just want to say the spot is going away. And I also want to say that Thunders gets to see my hypochondria. You are my go to guys for weird penile issues.
